We took our Scout Troop rafting with Kokopelli last summer. It was during our Epic Western Adventure, 3700 miles in 9 days. Most of our Troop had made Eagle and we were looking for something other than Summer Camp to keep the boys Scouting. Kokopelli was awesome, the boys were ready to go again when we got off the river, even though there was a short class V portion, they felt confident. The guides we had for the trip were great, gave good concise safety and rafting instructions before we hit the river, and had great attitudes. Would definitely recommend booking a trip with Kokopelli for a Scout Troop with older Scouts to keep them Scouting. If we make it out that way again, we will book the Taos Box full day trip.

Thanks for your review K4730! And thanks for choosing Kokopelli Rafting Adventures for your Epic Western Adventure! We know how hard it can be to plan a big trip like this, with the liability and all the BSA rules. That's why we train our guides to the highest standards, require helmets (one of the few who do), and replace our equipment regularly so it's in the best shape for your kiddos. We want this to be something they remember for the rest of their lives and a good positive experience starts with safety, long before the trip leaves the beach. Thanks again for what you do for the youth in your area! <3

I planned an all day rafting trip down the Chama River in Northern New Mexico for an outdoor youth movement called the Federation of North American Explorers. Kelly, Brandon and the crew with Kokopelli Rafting made our experience easy and enriching. There were 14 of us rafting, 9 of us youth ages 8-12. All of the adults knew and felt that we were in good hands as we were provided excellent safety training and needed equipment.

We had to apply the safety training when, in different rafts, we had someone fall overboard (an adult in one and a youth in another). In both cases, everyone in the raft knew exactly what to do and acted accordingly. Without a pause, our members in the raft got them back on board the raft without injury or even anxiety. No one was injured and the experience only added to the pride and joy experienced by both boys and leaders.

Also, they supported our program's Catholic faith. They gave us space to pray. Their language and demeanor was respectful. One of the guides made supportive comments to the youth when a boy told her that we would be having a priest come to offer an outdoor Mass. We rafted on a Friday and, being a Catholic educational program, they prepared a delicious meatless lunch for us.

All the youth agreed that rafting was their favorite part of our 4 day camp. This is the second time that we've had this camp and that Kokopelli has been our guide. It's become a tradition that we plan to continue for many summers to come.

Thank you Kokopelli Rafting Adventures for another great trip!

We had so much fun rafting down the Rio Grand with Abelino! He was super passionate about rafting and was so clear when he needed to give us directions. He navigated four out of shape land lubbers through the rapids like we actually knew what we were doing! I also really loved that he shared his knowledge of New Mexico and the section of the Rio Grand we were on. We would definitely recommend this for a family!

Thanks for your review Iaran! Abelino is a solid guide and knows the river well and loves sharing with others -- land lubbers especially :) I forget how many generations his family has been here -- but it's near double-digits! He's very knowledgeable on and off the river! Thank you for choosing us and for your vote of confidence! "All forward!"

We visited last weekend while passing through the Taos area with our two teenage boys - their first time rafting. What fun we had! Our guide, Caleb, was the best. He was super knowledgeable about the river and expertly guided our trip. There were other companies guiding that day, too, and we said many times afterward how glad we were that we chose THIS company and ended up with THIS guide. From the start of our adventure, Kokopelli kept our safety in mind by implementing many COVID protections - and kept safety front and center throughout our trip down the river. One thing to mention - the water is running on the low side this year, which is perfect for kids. Thanks for the awesome trip. We’ll always remember our day on the Rio Grande and hope to be back one day!

Thank you KJRome! We're glad you had such a fun time with your kids for their first time rafting! Caleb is great and we're glad to have him working with us. We know COVID has many people rightfully concerned, and we go to great lengths to clean every raft, van, life jacket, helmet and paddle with soap and water (or bleach when applicable) after every use, and make sure every party has their own private raft and guide. Thanks again for choosing Kokopelli Rafting Adventures! "All forward!"

Kokopelli Rafting Adventures goes above and beyond! Not only was it so fun that we went twice, but they go the extra mile for safety. They sanitize the equipment and do temperature checks. The owner took time to explain the river and our guide was so personable and knowledgable about the surrouding area. My kids had a blast and learned about different geology and history of the area.

Took the kids white water rafting down the Rio Grande Racecourse. Our 6 year old was scared at first, but our guide, Jack, talked to her and made her feel better. Both our kids ended up loving it and wanting to go more! Jack from Kokopelli Rafting Adventures was knowledgeable, experienced, safe, and fun... perfect for our family! 🥰 He even brought a snorkel and blow up alligator so he could do a trick for the kids at the end.

The owner of this company is not only rude, but unreliable. I gave the company all of my credit card information on the internet, as required to make a reservation. He then called me to say that I hadn't paid. I told him I had, and didn't want to give my credit card info a second time lest I be charged. He then became verbally abusive and hung up on me, cancelling the reservation. He did not check to see if I had paid. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - there are other, honest alternatives.

Gail, there are two sides to every story and yours is both colorful and elaborated. We called you because we had not received your payment an hour after your reservation came through. During that hour, we checked with the merchant processor, as any prudent person would do in a similar customer service role. You insisted you had "checked out" but could not / would not provide us with a receipt number, transaction ID, Booking ID, etc, only accusations of fraud and threatening 1-star reviews. You were informed when you book online, your card information remains between you and our merchant; we never have the information; we only receive an email notification when the payment is received. Most modern websites use similar protocols to protect cardholder information. Your reservation was cancelled because payment was not received and it was clear you would not help us resolve the issue.

My friends and I took a trip with Kokopelli over Labor Day 2020 (finally a break from the chaos of 2020) and it rejuvenated me to the BONES. Our guide was SO lively and incredible. The scenery was, of course, unreal. But also, the stories that the guide told us were so cool! I am from NM and thought I knew a lot about the state and geography and stuff but this was a whole other level of cool knowledge. I was in awe with everything he told us. We traveled alongside 2 other boats and got to play around with them and their guides. It was really fun.
We got in the river at the same time as another rafting company so we got to see their set up and I was really happy with our choice. The other company guests didn't have helmets and their loading process seemed super rushed. Our guides made sure our safety /life vests(?) were all fitted correctly, our helmets were on right, and they went through a a safety talk that made me feel at ease, as a beginner. It seemed like even the experienced people in the group were happy with the talk and it wasn't overly long. Just to the point and helpful. I felt super safe and had a great time.

Our first, family whitewater rafting trip went great. With one of us very apprehensive about whitewater rafting, due to a previous bad experience elsewhere, the trip down the Race Track section of the Rio Grande River, quickly erased that fear. Our guide, Maren, was very helpful, giving great instructions for us to navigate the rocks, and remain in the raft. The Class 2 and Class 3 parts that we experienced this July, proved nothing to be anxious over, though, as a couple of drunks in innertubes floated just behind us. Overall, a fun and safe experience. But here's a tip: the launch spot for the Race Track (which is the main area of rapids in this section of the State) is a lot closer to Taos than it is to Santa Fe (we drove back from Santa Fe, having been in Taos the day before).

Highly recommend Kokopelli. Fun & Safety were their priorities, and we had our two boys (6,9) with us. The water happened to be at a level that our kids would be safe at, and with properly fitting helmets & life vests, it was a blast. Our boys loved it and begged to go again the next day.
It is early June (COVID-19) and we were A bit concerned about how that would all work out.
We wore masks during the entire instruction period. Each party (of 2-4) was in their own van provided by Kokopelli to get to designation and each van had a sheet of plastic distancing us from the driver. Snacks couldn’t be provided, due to COVID as well, and all the equipment was immediately sanitized as we took it off after the trip.
I’m so thankful they found a way to accommodate the CDC and adventure seekers.
