Scott was our guide as we hiked Tsankawi Prehistoric sites, Bandelier National Monument in Santa Fe, July 2021. Our group was made up of 6 women, all in our mid-50s. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike and all the education Scott offered with his expansive archeological knowledge. Scott is a considerate gentleman, and took his time to share, explore, explain and answer our questions. He was great at communicating about our departure place and time and he even went the extra mile to take us to an overlook after our hike so we could see the Rio Grande! Our delicious lunch at The Pig & The Fig was also his recommendation! Highly recommend Scott!

Scott was a wonderful tour guide. Was unsure about the necessity of a guide when hiking on a well marked trail but so happy we did. Scott picked us up and taught us so much about the topography, history, Pueblo culture, the Manhattan project and basically any other question that popped into my very inquisitive head. It was such a luxury having a guide figure everything out and scott was prepared and lovely
Really enjoyed our morning and Will recommend to anyone who asks

Scott was awesome! He was our guide as we hiked Tsankawi Prehistoric sites, Bandelier National Monument in Santa Fe, July 2021. Scott customized our time together to our pace, our levels and interests. His comprehensive knowledge of the natural history of New Mexico made our hike as informative as they were scenic. We highly recommend hiring Scott if you want to truly understand more about New Mexico's heritage while enjoying incredible hikes!

Scott was such a professional with whom to work. He was responsive at every level, asked us about what we wanted to do/see/touch, and created the perfect geologic hike for us. The entire time, we didn't see another soul. The trip was organized and fascinating. We learned about the geology of the area, in addition to various flora, fauna and history. We thought it was a great way to spend the day. In addition, we told him our other ideas we were thinking about doing, and he gave us great advice. We'd highly recommend Scott for anyone wanting to do something different in Santa Fe.

Former great hikers, now seniors and a little slow on the go, had a terrific day with Scott who took us to Tsankawi in Bandelier National Monument, and then spontaneously to a fabulous outlook and a quick side trip to Los Alamos. Scott was hugely patient with our hiking limitations. We felt we didn't miss a thing! Scott is very knowledgeable about the geology and human culture. His explanations flow so easily as conversation; there is no sense of being lectured to. Well worth every penny. I'm sure he's a champion for very experienced hikers, but lucky for us, he could make a fabulous day out of slow and easy.

Thank you both so much! (Trip Advisor has stopped sending me alerts so I miss things occasionally). I loved all your questions and you were good sports about the passing rain shower! Hope to see you again.

Knowledgeable and friendly guide who gave me a personalized experience I could have never had alone. We went to Bandelier National Monument. He is so gifted in his ability to make youth both feel welcome and to guide back in time. He is simply wonderful!

This was our second snow shoeing trip with outspire . Scott is exceptionally knowledgeable about snow shoeing in the Santa Fe mountains . We had a excellent day . I highly recommend if this is your very first time or if you are experienced but would like a guide to navigate safely. He provided snacks , drinks and warm Apple cider when we were done . If you have a few hours and want to get out in the mountains we highly recommend Outspire .

WOW, what a magical trip this was! Our first time snowshoeing and couldn’t have done it without Scott. His patience, preparation, and knowledge, coupled with the natural beauty lead us to know this will be the first of many more trips to Santa Fe. Can’t wait to see you again in early Fall!

Thank you both! I appreciated your enthusiasm for the natural world and all those questions. And thanks again for being my first geology-walker. That morning was very useful to me for finding a focus for the walk.

Scott was an incredible guide! He was attentive to the variety of fitness levels of our group of six as we had one participant with a recent ankle injury. He shared interesting facts about the pueblo dwellings, history and pointed out numerous key areas of interest along the way. His recommendation for lunch was delicious and also added an extra stop to visit the Rio Grande overlook. If you ae visiting Santa Fe and looking for a hiking guide Scott is the perfect person. Thank you for a great morning Scott!

My wife and I are going to Santa Fe in early January and have an interest in hiking and/or snowshoeing. We typically hike in the 4 to 8 mile range on moderate to strenuous trails. What do you recommend as to location? Thanks.
Written October 31, 2018
If you're planning to book with Scott just let him know what you would like to do, he's so knowledgeable about the area he'll pick just the perfect trail. If you're planning to go yourself, sorry, I'm not familiar with alot of the trails. There are multiple trailheads on the road up to Ski Santa Fe but I don't know the details.

We are a family of 4 looking for light adventure. A couple of questions: What are your hours and rates? Is there any snow to snowshoe in? Thank you in advance.
Written December 25, 2017
Good morning! I'd need to know when you'll be in Santa Fe, and ages of the children, if they are part of your family. But I can say that trips are individually arranged, so hours are flexible - and that, unfortunately, at this time there is no snow to snowshoe on. You can reach me through the Outspire website.

What would you wear to hike the windsor trail to Nambe lake in late May? Planning to go this weekend
Written May 27, 2016
Hi, I was there last week and it was raining quite a bit. The temperatures were great though. If it were me I would wear shorts, a short sleeve shirt and a hat. I always carry a poncho and change of clothes(or extra set in case I get cold). Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi, we are family of two kids 10 year old and 50 and 70. We arrived on 23 of March. We would like to book a trip ti visit Indian dwellings . Can You please advise on temperature and booking availability?
Thanks Bianka
Written March 5, 2016
Hi Bianka, and thank you for contacting Outspire!
March temperature are typically in the low 30s at night, chilly in the morning, and in the mid 50s during the afternoon. March is our least predictable month, so it could be sunny and 70, or snowing.
Except for March 25, Friday, that weekend has available times. There is an easy contact sheet to fill out on the Outspire website. Bandelier National Monument preserves many Ancestral Puebloan ruins you and the kids would find interesting.

Plan on visiting New Mexico in the middle of October (possibly with a dog) we would like to do some hiking but we are not experienced hikers and what is the weather usually like in October?
Written August 2, 2015
The weather is great then, and I think Outspire would be a great place to bring a dog with you (on the hike). I am NOT athletic, and have had multiple back surgeries but I had no issues hiking and climbing up the mesa. You are given multiple opportunities to rest, and they go at YOUR pace, which I loved! I say go for it!

Hi, I am very interested in visiting to New Mexico and doing hiking but I am concerned how the weather is like in January. Will it be snowing where we hike and do we need to prepare snow boots? Also, I saw a photo taken by one of the visitors with a small cute creature (a lizard?) on her hand. If we are lucky, do we get to meet reptiles or wild animals during hiking? And when will be the best season or month to visit to see those animals? Thank you!
Written December 31, 2014
Greetings! Our average high temperature in January is 44F with daily lows around 18F. This is a normal temperature range for us at our high elevation of 7000 feet. However, we can have days (like today) which are considerably colder.
In winter, we usually have snow in the mountains (10,000 feet) for snowshoeing, but we can hike on little or no snow in lower elevation canyon areas. Warm winter boots are always a good idea, though. More hiking locations and longer trails are available during late spring to late fall, approximately April to November.
Many animals, including all our reptiles, hibernate during the cold weather. If you are specifically interested in seeing wildlife, we'd be happy to talk with you directly about what we could do to increase the possibility. Give us a call and I'd be happy to tell you more!
