When visiting a city, we like to do a trolley tour. It's a great way to learn interesting history facts and see places that we would undoubtedly miss if we tried to go on our own. Our driver/guide was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the tour of Santa Fe!

These tours are really only as good as the guide, right? We had a good one, don’t recall name but he is a now-retired restaurateur who has a kick giving tours, and sprinkled it with restaurant recommendations and historical anecdotes. Pretty good expenditure. Tram meets in a parking lot sandwiched in between LaFonda and the Loretto chapel.

We boarded the tram from the La Fonda Hotel at 10:30, so it was very easy to find, but that is the only positive thing I can think of to say. We have gone on many tours in different cities and have always found them to be a great overview of the city. They are usually informative and entertaining so we were looking forward to taking this one. What a disappointment! This was like a high school history lecture where it is all you can do to keep from dozing off. After only 15 minutes, my husband was asking how much longer we had. Several times the driver just parked and droned on for 5 minutes. Surely as colorful as Sante Fe is, there must be something entertaining to share!! A little anecdote thrown in the mix would have been appreciated! This particular driver was knowledgeable but had no apparent personality nor delivery abilities. If this is the format followed by all the tours, it needs to be re-thought. Would not recommend this to anyone!!

Road trip! Great tour and great value. $20 for about an hour and 15 minutes tour. They leave from a couple different locations near the Plaza.

I find tours are a great way to orient yourself when visiting a new town. This open trolley tour is easy to find, located next to Loretto Chapel, 207 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, NM. There is plenty of public, paid parking just a block away. Also had street parking but they were getting ready for a fiesta and a lot of streets around the Plaza were closed. A nice touch was the padded seats. The tour was 1 hour, 15 minutes but it was more of a history tour or city promotional tour than I would have liked. We drove around the Plaza since it was closed, rode by the cathedral, through the art district, past the capital and along the road of some nicer areas. Several times we just parked while the driver/ guide talked which I found quite boring. It was nice to learn a little history and see more of the area than we would have on our own but, overall, I was disappointed. The guide also said Loretto chapel was modeled after Notre Dame but the internet says Sainte-Chapelle in Paris.
