We stopped here for dinner our first night on the Riverwalk! Onion Rings appetizer, and it was done perfectly. For dinner, I had the Guinness Beef Stew with brown bread and my wife ordered a Reuben. Had a bit of an issue with my stew. It was apparently microwaved to warm it up. I found sections that were lukewarm at best and sections that were downright hot. Each spoonful was an adventure. Candidly it was pretty good, but the heating issue was a bit of a disappointment. Also, my brown bread did not appear to be the freshest…..a bit drier than expected. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Reuben. Truthfully, none of these items were enough to ruin our meal. And we enjoyed good service. The ability to get a Smithwick’s from their bar, was a real plus. It can be hard to find. All in all, we enjoyed our meal. Just have to deduct a point for the stew and bread. But we recommend giving them a try. Sit outside on their patio, relax, and watch the world go by as you eat!

Not somewhere we’d normally choose to eat at but it was late and veggie options were limited in the area. I ordered a portobello spinach burger and was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was. Very reasonable and good people watching on the terrace.

Loved this place. Especially loved it was a Friday night. Joe was singing live. Great guy, great singer. He sang a range of songs. We sang , danced and Joe looked after us. Would recommend you go and spend a night there. Food was great and beer too. Staff very attentive.

This was a great lunch spot while touring the Riverwalk. The interior is designed with the look of an Irish pub. Patio seating right on the Riverwalk is dog friendly. We started with pints of beer on tap. My husband ordered the Bangers and Mash and I had the Spinach Portobello Sandwich. All food and drinks were very good. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Right on the river walk and the pub grub is pretty good. Staff seemed a little distracted. Could use a good cleaning- but it is an Irish pub!. Prices weren’t bad for the river walk.

I was looking for BBQ in San Antonio on a Monday ( who new they were all closed?) so I went down to the the San Antonio River walk, found this Great Irish Pub. Was very glad I did. Good pub food, Guinness Stew, Chicken Pie. Good selection of Beers nice atmosphere inside.

There are so many choices on the River Walk, and we picked this restaurant after scanning the menu and seeing that it had two of my favorites, shepherd's pie and lamb stew. I ordered the lamb stew; it had the most delicious lamb in it, tender and delicate. If you like lamb, you've probably had hit-or-miss experiences ordering it out, but you can't go wrong here. It's worth a special trip just for the lamb stew! My husband enjoyed the chicken curry - it wasn't a spicy-hot curry, rather spicy-flavorful. We had apple walnut bread pudding for dessert and it was a generous serving for two (also very tasty). I highly recommend this restaurant. Service and atmosphere are great, too!

My wife and I like English/Irish pubs (my wife is English and I am half Irish) so we specifically sought out Waxy's to give it a try. Quite realistic pub decor and atmosphere - the tap beer was superb and the menu selection was extensive.The barkeep was extremely accommodating with a dry sense of humor - we felt like we were home. This oasis is a must if you are on or near the Riverwalk. Prices were low-moderate. There is life entertainment some nights.

After a five hour drive, we arrived to the riverwalk hungry. I do not think of Irish pub when I think San Antonio but we had tex-mex reservations for tomorrow so we wanted something different. The pub was close to our hotel and had a nice table outside and an interesting menu. Since it was on the riverwalk my expectations were not really high. We ended up having a great meal. The waitress recommend the chicken pot pie and it was awesome. The fish and chips were also good. Service was good. We will be back.

After we left The Iron Cactus due to their rude hostess, we came upon this place. From the very beginning to the end they were very friendly and very accommodating! Kitchen got a bit backed up, but they kept us informed of our food status - which was worth the wait! Can’t say enough good things about this place!!! Fabulous Friendly Service! Give them your business vs. the Iron Cactus two doors down...
