The trail itself is not hard to reach, and honestly, it took me a longer time to get there than some of the trails took to complete. There are give or take 14 different trails within that area, with various degrees of distance or difficulty....More

Sometimes we finish a hike that has some challenging aspects and requires a fair amount of effort, and we tell ourselves our effort was really worth it. Not so at Friedrich Wilderness Park. There were some fairly steep up and down areas and plenty of...More

This park is close enough to town to be quick and easy to get to, yet far enough away that the city seems to disappear. The main loop can be done in about 1-1.5 hours (obviously there are a lot of variations) and there are...More

Without driving to Lost Maples or further, this has some of the best hill views and remote trails in the area. And best of all, it's free! Great place to hike or trail run. Be advised that dogs are not allowed though.

The trails range from moderate and paved to rigorous terrain not for the faint at heart... the entire park is well kept and clean while maintaining a natural atmosphere where one can enjoy nature. Hard to find spots like this amidst a busy city but...More
