This is a wonderful markeplace. All of the food, & shopping items are strictly Mexican. No one bothers you (like what can happen in tourist spots in Mexico). Food is fantastic. People are friendly. Great merchandise. A go to place especially on the weekends.

On our second visit to San Antonio my wife and I walked down to the Mercado or Market Square for some shopping and lunch. We visited here on our last visit ten years ago and liked it so much that it was on our must...More

Very pretty old square a short distance from downtown. Unfortunately it was very cold the day we visited, so we didn't spend too much time outside. But we could tell it would be a lovely place to stroll through on a warmer day.

Visited during the dios de los Muertos...lots of people in costume. Huge selection of Mexican imports...largest outside of Mexico they said.

If you plan to stay three days or so near downtown and River Walk area, plan to walk the short distance to Market Square. Even if you don't buy a thing, and if you are a avid photographer like me, there are so many opportunities...More

A fun stop that has little shops with trinkets and such, most have pretty much the same thing in them but there’s also neat restaurants worth the bus ride over to the area for something to do for the afternoon . Highly recommend checking out...More

We were here for The Day Of The Dead celebration. Loads of people, many in costume and make-up. Music, entertainment, parades, shopping, bakeries, all in a central area. Outdoor and indoor (flea market) shopping and room to bargain with shop keepers which is always fun....More

This was a nice place to go to visit small shops for souvenirs or to get something to eat. Leisurely walking around the shops for an hour or two was nice.

We visited on a week day off season and it was very quiet. We could imagine it being rammed and having more atmosphere at the weekends. That said it is just full of Mexican tourist tack and bars.

Very nice shops. Saw a small but fun parade. We had a crowd with us and not enough time to see it all. Want to go back again.

Parking in the area ranges between 5 to 10 dollars. I'm not aware of any free parking. We parked within walking distance to the Alamo, River walk and the Market Square.

Maybe in the outside area but definitely not on the inside unless they are a service animal. I would not recommend it.
