Concepcion is the northernmost mission on the mission trail. Very peaceful and tours are available. Closest Miision to the Alamo and down town if transportation is a concern. There is a nice park for the kids with playground nearby.

the nps has done its interpretive job in attracting thousands to what many might consider a boring place to visit. a light and audio show is cast upon the wight face of the structure to show how the place was painted long ago

We visited this mission early in the morning and were met by a wonderful volunteer guide who gave us a complete rundown of the mission and its history. While most of the original walls are long gone the remains are still very impressive. Give the...More

Enjoyed our visit here, after arriving on the no. 40 bus, which can take you to all the missions on the mission trail. Lovely to see original wall paintings and some of the colours on the walls, preserved but not restored. Walked around and also...More

This is the oldest operational church in North America. The preservation work that has gone into preserving this church is amazing. It's amazing how a church like this still functions in the 21st century. Daniel, the NPS ranger, gave us great insight and explained so...More

Easy parking and walk to Mission. Mostly the church left and not any of the fortress. Pretty inside and outside facade.

If you enjoy history, this is the place for you. The Mission dates back to 1731. It's in remarkable good condition for its age and the interior has many original wall paintings. It is still an active Catholic parish and mass is held every Sunday....More

Concepcion is a blend of recovered and ruins and restored...the active chapel is a place of intense spirituality..I enjoy sitting in the cool and the quiet, enjoying other worshipers and feeling the power of faith over hundreds of years

The Missions and Church's were interesting to visit and see. It was good to see that the Church and State were able to work out a deal that the church's could still be used and also recognized by the National park service. The Guides and...More

Another excellently preserved bit of Texas history. You can do this yourself, but we preferred to have it guided, as part of the Highlights Tour. Beautiful mission church.

I recommend the movie at the visitors center and a guided tour if you really want to learn the particulars. I think $30 would be worth it for the multiple sites.
