Maybe this is a place that is only "open" to the public during certain events???? We went on a Saturday afternoon and there were maybe three "art galleries" open. The first was preparing for a "runway show"... but we were obviously not cool enough to be told when or what or why. Pretty much ignored after that comment. The second... More

Now... I traveled from Ft Worth to San Antonio to be a part of the festival about Fridas life/art....and, It was free and I was excited to attend BUT was disappointed due to extreme heat in the building...in all fairness the building was packed and it was amazing to see so many attend BUT it was hard to enjoy the... Used to be a great spot for emerging arts; now it's gentrified to point that there are very few galleries/studios but rather brew pubs, juice bars and food spots. We stopped in on a Saturday. One space, Cinnabar, was open; everything that was arts space was closed. New condos went up. Now it's more of a pub spot with some... More

I love this place. There's always something interesting going on here! Went to a Mystic Festival last month on a Sunday that had all sorts of different vendors. Good food, drink and art, what more could you ask for?!!

Look at Blue Star Arts Complex website. They have a cool map of the venues in the complex. My favorite is San Angel Folk Art store. He buys beautiful things from Mexico and Latin America. Lots of bars within the complex. Check out their website and YouTube videos. BSAC is easy to access on VIA street car or double-decker bus... More

I love this place! The entire complex is wonderful. The people are extremely nice and the Brick is such a treat to visit on Sundays with all the artists. They have a parking lot so no need to try to find on street parking, a huge plus for the area.

So it's well hidden if your not familiar with the area but still in a nice safe area. I used my travel guide from my hotel to find things to do since I'm only here traveling and the book said it was free on the day I went but when I got there the guy working the front desk said... More

This whole complex of galleries, art spaces, and a brewery space right on the river is one great place to connect with the hip and vibrant arts community in San Antonio. We especially liked being able to meet and talk with young artists at the Sunday Artists Market. Dogs are allowed and fawned over. There's a tiny little drinks bar,... More

We loved walking around the whole Blue Star area and see all the artist's work. We stopped in the coffee shop and there was a lot happening in there. The river walk is amazing and we enjoyed checking out the neighborhood.

We happened upon the new Blue Star Contemporary arts museum by chance while on a get-away weekend to a Noble Inns B&B. The show was comprised of 3 Texas women artists. The one familiar to us Sharon Kopriva. It was a comprehensive collection of work from her religious icon sculptural pieces to her new multi-dimensional canvases. Once of our favorite... More
