Breckenridge Park is a place we visited as children - in the 50's. A lot of things have changed, but what is here is wonderful. Beautiful part with a river running through it. Hosts the SA zoo, the famous small train, and many, many picnic tables (concrete). Don't try to eat at one during Easter - people camp overbite to... More

A few trails and a nice river. Playground, train and museum to enjoy or pack a picnic and hang by the river. Kids can wade to cool off on a crossing that water flows over. Much of the trail has shade from large trees, nice break from the sun!

It's a park with lovely paths and water features. Stupendously well-planned, you can see Texas trees and plants peacefully sauntering at your own rate.

(Check off on my Bucket List - Yea)! San Antonio, Texas - returned this past week (June 21 thru 26, 2016) and was amazed by the changes over the decades. (Plan on spending the day, if you can) Take a picnic or enjoy the many restaurants. 1966 - a walk down memory lane: My Husband (now deceased) and I visited... More

Visited an area of the park at the bridge near the Joske Pavilion at Olmos Creek. At the bridge there are many large trees hanging over the river in which hundreds of birds roost and feed. Be forewarned: very stinky (there are a lot of birds after all). Captured many cattle egrets, some ducks, Great Egret, Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, Black-Crowned... More

Fun for hiking, biking, picnic-ing and feeding the ducks. And there's the Zoo, a kiddie train, playgrounds and golf in the park. A little something for everyone.

So many options for things to do. Picnic, ride the train, go to the Witte museum, enjoy the trails or the river.

We went in the early morning before the crowds and heat, and it was lovely. Bring water and have a good idea of where you are going, because the trails are not as well marked as one would hope. But it is a great glimpse of the natural world in this part of the country.
