We took the bus as far as the Witte and then spent a couple hours meandering back. Even off season the Japanese garden is lovely. It was a nice day and the place was alive but so massive I wouldn’t call it crowded. Basically you don’t have to do anything to enjoy the place but there is lots to do if you want.

The park is wonderful, a very beautiful atmosphere and a wonderful place to take your dog walking, your kids for a day out or a romantic place to walk around. The bridge is even a popular proposal place. But I am sad to inform you that the sky ride and Carrousel are no longer available. The city found that it was just too expensive to maintain.
Sorry guys. As well as the horse rides, the couple that owned the business retired with no intent to sell the business.

This is a large beautiful park with an area for everyone. We saw couples having a picnic, playgrounds with kids, large family reunions in pavilions, multiple trails and picnic tables. We spent 3 days roaming the park and enjoying the day use areas. There are busy areas and secluded area, manicured areas and ares that were overgrown, they had pavilions with grills and just open fields. This park was had the sunken gardens to the east, witt museam to the west, zoo to the north, golf course to the south, day use and trails through out and a train that will take you on a tour around it Get there early and Brackenridge Park Parking Garage is free and right next to the Witt Museam.

When you include all the different experiences from the attractions that are in the area. Brackenridge Park is a great place to spend a day and have a great time. The park by itself is a lot of fun too. Not part of the park, but close is the Botanical Gardens. The Zoo, Witte Museum are average for their type of attraction. They are connected by a miniature train that circles the park. The train is a very small fee and fun especially for younger kids. The Japanese Gardens is there and also and is free. But there are also plenty of picnic tables, grills, pavillions walking and hiking trails. If you drive past the miniature train station, there is a part you drive through water (when it is not flooded) to the backside of the park. There is a beautiful bridge that you cross and there is a children's playground with a picnic pavillion that looks like a mimi Alamo. The kids loved this area. You can take stairs down to the river below the bridge and feed ducks. Across the river from that playground is a hidden area where a great play area. It is a long play area that you can climb and hide and chase. There are tunnels, ramps, stairs. It is three levels and fun for the kids to play on. You can spend as much or as little money as you wish in Brackenridge Park. Picnic in a beautiful area. Or visit attractions.

This could be such a lovely park, but one just cannot get by all the trash, my gosh when was the last time anyone did litter patrol in the river and the banks? Avenue A is suppose to be birders paradise....I feel sorry for those birds having to live in such a place, come on San Antonio, lets clean up your act!

What a great way to spend the day in the shaded areas in the park. There are so many things to do for the family including walking the paths though out the park. The park is soooo close to the zoo.

We visited this park 50 years ago as children and now, in 2018. The park is even more beautiful than before. Plan a picnic and enjoy the natural beauty and shade of the park! You can go next door and ride the train, visit the zoo, and see the Japanese sunken gardens!!!

Nice park with great potential but just too many homeless and garbage around. Its a travesty considering the cost to live this close to downtown. The dogs are not picked up after and makes it a bit nasty. SA, you could do better.

My first visit to this Park since I moved to San Antonio just under 3 years ago. I enjoy running and I can see that there are many trails in which you can walk, hike or run. I also love the fact that it is bordering the zoo which allows you to enjoy all of the birds that fly back and forth from the Zoo. You will also see a nice Golf course along side of the Park. There is plenty of free parking on the grounds. There are so many things in the surrounding area, you can just walk outside the park and you will see the Witte Museum and other attractions along with some local eateries.
