Only saw the outside.

Due to Covid there was no admittance to the Old Town Hall. We did however get photos to send back to our Hocus Pocus fans.

Neat old Building
Oct 2019
Right in the heart of town. This is a self guided tour. Nothing but displays. Would like to have known more about the building itself.

A closed up late Georgian style building
Nov 2019
When we arrived in November there was a paper notice pinned to the door indicating that the place was closed. We were most disappointedly having travelled up from Boston to see the historic buildings of Salem.

Great location, and we saw a re-enactment on the second level that we thoroughly enjoyed. Bit of a steep price for one hour, but guess it was worth it.

Old Historical Building
Nov 2019
The Old town hall is not just an old empty historical building to look at. If you enter through the front there is a historical museum with good information and public restrooms downstairs. You enter through the back and you might catch The fabulous play A cry of Innocence about the witch trials. The Old Town Hall is located right in the heart of Salem and surrounded by cobblestone walkways. Even if you do not go in it is still cool to catch a glimpse of this place and remember the famous movie scene from Hocus Pocus.

This is the best scene in the entire movie!! They fillmed the party scene here and it was great to see it in person! Super worth to see it, inside and outside the building!

Beautiful Building
Oct 2019
Hocus Pocus fans are familiar with the building because of the parents' party scene and it's just as beautiful in real life. The museum exhibit inside is worth a look and sometimes there are craft vendors in the little square surrounding the building. Each time I've visited, I've been overcome by a feeling of awe, knowing how much historical events took place right here. Stand on the cobblestone and make sure to take a picture in front.

Cry Innocent
Oct 2019
I attended the performance of "Cry Innocent" in the Old Town Hall. It is a dramatization of the witch trial of Bridget Bishop. We were allowed to question the witnesses and then had to decide if there was enough evidence to try Goodwife Bishop as a witch. The trial was a lot of fun (for the audience, not for the accused). Be sure to book in advance during busy times (such as October).

Affordable, Informative, and Toilet Access
Oct 2019
The Salem Old Town Hall hosts a nice, compact history of the town from its founding through the Great Fire of 1914. There is so much more to Salem than the witch trials that gives the town its draw today. I was most intrigued by the information on the early settlement, Federal architecture, and life of Nathanial Hawthorne. The price of admission is far less than any other museum in town (I paid $3) and it provides you access to the buildings toilets all day--well worth the price!

Hocus Pocus town hall dance scenes!
Oct 2019 • Family
We got to see this during our Salem Heritage tour. A cute historic building. It appears in Hocus Pocus as the town hall. Right in the middle of all the action in Salem so it is easy to see. Free!
