Overview
This tour combines true tales from Salem’s past with some mild ghost stories just for kids. Our aim is not to scare the heck out of your kids, but to provide a little shiver and bit of mystery for kids who like ghost stories. We are also telling you intriguing historical facts as well. This tour follows a route that is near the downtown, but it’s a little off the beaten path, very picturesque, and you’ll feel as if you stepped back in time. The tour ends at our historic and creepy Broad Street Cemetery, which was established in 1655. Meets at 316 Essex Street.
For over twelve years, parents traveling with kids have chosen Salem Kids Tours for a fun, well-researched and fascinating trip through time. Many times we have heard from kids, “I didn’t want the tour to end.” Parents have described our tours as the highlight of their trip to Salem. We are happy to show you around. We love kids, we understand their unique needs, and we look forward to meeting you on one of our tours.

Alicia was a fantastic tour guide!! She made our trip to Salem so much more meaningful. My kids are 8 & 14 - and Alicia was able to keep their attention and interest for an hour and a half - no small feat! She shared so many interesting details that we really felt like we got a nice picture of Salem through the centuries. The kids and I went back through the places she took us the next day and talked about what we had seen and learned. It was really great to see how much they took in and how it gave them such a deeper understanding of this incredible historic town, and the witch trials too. This is probably the most important thing you can do for your kids if you’re visiting Salem. As an adult - it was a wonderful tour for me too. I learned so much more than I had ever heard or read about. I love that now we feel like we can really picture the town and history when we think of Salem. It’s so much more than we expected! (Alicia pointed us in the right direction for lunch - which was AMAZING! She seriously knows everything there is to know about this town!)

On Sunday we had the best experience with guide Alicia of Salem Kids Tours earning our Playing the Past Badge for our Girl Scouts. She created a tour to be girl-focused for our scouts and had excellent recommendations to deepen our exploration of girls in historic Essex County. This is the second time I've taken her tour with a Girl Scout troop and it has always been fun, engaging, educational and informative! No outlandish tales of exaggerated history, but the real history of Salem (which is wild enough)! As a local, we didn't want a performative experience but the real deal - this tour is it. Highly recommended to anyone with kids who wants to learn a bit about Salem's history!

We had a very enjoyable kid’s history tour with our guide, Alicia. My 8 yr old grandson and 11 year old granddaughter gave the tour two thumbs up. The stories Alicia told surrounding the witch trials were most interesting as were the stories about Salem’s early residents. I learned many new things about Salem as well. I highly recommend this tour for families visiting Salem.

We had a great experience. John was our guide and we went on a tour with our 5 yr old daughter. There was one other family with a 4 year old boy. John did a great job of interacting with the kids and my husband and I found it to be interesting. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a kid friendly activity.
