Our tour guide, Jeff, was great! The tour was two hours but his storytelling made time fly. You could tell he has a passion for the true history of the Salem Witch Trials and the city itself. We booked the 5pm tour which was perfect as the crowds on Essex were insane at this time so it gave us something to do while they died down a little bit.

We toured with Jeff and Damon! I honestly loved it. Jeff was very respectful of the people who lost their lives in the witch trials and was awesome at telling us about the people they were. He was very honest and historically accurate. I really enjoyed his energy, his jokes and the pace of his tour. He was concerned about our safety walking the streets and truly cared about our experience.
I also really liked Damon's energy. He's got really cool style and super cool pants

My friend and I go to Salem every October for a tour. The amount of tours we have been on is well into the double digits. We love history & we love Halloween! The tours we enjoy the most are always with guides who really know and respect the towns history and aren’t just trying to sell a ghost story. Jeff did just that! This was a 2 hour walking tour of the actual history of the women and men accused of witchcraft and life around the that time. He spoke of historical people and places with such detail, you can tell he really knows and understands the history of this town. Jeff has a great sense of humor, which helps when discussing such deep topics. He threw in his perspective when appropriate and always made sure to mention whether something was recorded fact or his take on the matter. Jeff had two assistances who kept the group together and he didn’t start talking until everyone was gathered in earshot. His enthusiasm and humor kept the groups attention for the entire tour!

Another aspect of this tour that really stuck out to me was Jeff knows the written and unwritten rules of tours in Salem! Salem is insanely busy in October and people are shoulder to shoulder on the narrow streets and sidewalks! He made sure to keep the large group out of the way of pedestrians and other tour groups! Trust me, this makes a big difference!

Thanks Jeff for a great night in Salem! I HIGHLY recommend this tour and definitely plan to go again next year!

Sarah Black gives an amazing tour! She is so knowledgeable and has such passionate way of presenting the history during the tour. I love how she focused mostly on the victims of the witchcraft trials rather than the accusers, which brought an emphasis back on the fact that these were real people. I highly recommend this tour. Get Sarah, if possible!

Ask for Sarah if you can - we had a super engaging, informative and thoroughly enjoyable tour with Sarah, who is a gifted story-teller with a passion for history. Not only did she bring the characters of the Salem witch trial to life, her stories were peppered with local recommendations and comparison to current social and cultural observations. My kids ranging from 12 - 16 absolutely loved it and the tour was a highlight!

Geoffrey was a great tour guide - super knowledgable and clearly very passionate about the material he covers. He’s super fun but also takes his job very serious and dedicated to telling the truth about what happened in Salem and the innocent people who died because of it. Highly recommend taking this tour even in addition to a ghost tour, it’d be worth it to do it both. Thanks to Bewitched After Dark for a wonderful, insightful time.

My husband and I just did this tour and we loved it! Our tour guide was Sarah. She was extremely knowledgeable; she painted an incredibly vivid picture of the time period and the suffering of all the accused. She held our attention the entire time...an all around amazing storyteller!
Would recommend this to anyone visiting Salem!! (And hopefully you get Sarah as your guide!)

I went w my 19 yo. daughter after Halloween. At that time, the crowds were less and we can really get into our tour without fighting for space on the street, and we were also able to hear our tour guide Jeff. He was born and raised in Salem and has seen what a transformation there was in the city. He gave us a great insight as to how it was growing up here in addition to the lore and legend and myth about Salem. He has done his research for many years, and has been working as an informed tour guide for years as well. He offered us insight into each persons view of life in 1692. The tour was very extensive, but not physically exhausting. It was the depth of the knowledge that made it extensive. He notes his sources for the information he’s giving us, and Jeff tells us even when it’s just his point of view so we can make decisions on our own about what happened. I would highly recommend this tour. However I know that young children will not be able to re-create each point of view and the policies of Massachusetts, Salem, England and New York. An adult could put together the timeline and the intricate webs of families, and the illegal atrocities that went on in the court system at that time. I would say it was not as visually entertaining as a child’s mind can capture, but if you don’t have to consider young children on your trip to Salem, you must take this your to get a great perspective on Salems history as well as the New England area. Jeff also gives many recommendations for Other things to do and see and places to eat if you would like to find out from a local’s point of view. We only wished we were able to remember a few books he recommended the group should read to gain a greater knowledge. Our brains were Packed with information!

Sarah was our tour guide and she was fabulous! She was friendly, personable and thorough. She gave a great presentation of the history of the witch trails and was very knowledgeable about other interesting points of Salem history. I like that she told us up front that the content of the trail was from studying primary documents and not legend. I'd go again!

Jeff was incredible. Simple as that. He knew so much about the area and the history. Would 100% recommend. We came in costume and he brought the perfect amount of interactive humor with the whole group! If walking tours are you’re thing, start here.
