I had planned a girls trip to Salem with 8 friends for this past weekend. We did the afternoon stroll with Karen and it was hands down our favorite thing we did all weekend. It was a very authentic local look at the town of Salem. We learned so much and got to go into so many places we would have overlooked otherwise. Karen is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and a real foodie at heart. The local vendors were welcoming and the food they had was even better then I imagined. Karen took photos throughout the course of the tour so we could focus on being engaged with what we were learning and trying. The photos came out beautiful and added a lovely extra layer to the expierence. I highly recommend doing this food tour.

Karen was awesome! It was a fun, historical, cultural and delicious trip! A must on a trip to Salem. Apart from the places you'll visit, you can ask her where to have brunch, breakfast or eat a traditional dish or whatever you like, she'll have the answer and will tell you with a huge smile on her face. She will also take a lot of pictures and send them by mail to you, as well as all the info of all the thigns you tried and places you went to, so you can focus and enjoy the experience while she captures every moment for you.

The tour guide Karen was so friendly and welcoming, and really made the tour fun. We went to an amazing chocolate house that I loved so much I ended up buying a bunch of drinking chocolate to take home, and a spice shop where I bought some spice blends. We covered a lot of downtown Salem on the walk.

This was one of my favorite things that we did during our stay in Salem. We are planning to come back next September, and I'm already looking forward to doing this tour again! We got to eat a whole cup of chowder, and we tasted spices, cheeses, whoopie pies, and wine! It was a great experience.

This past weekend I went on a Salem food tour, for the third time… and I am looking forward to having more friends come and visit so I can plan a fourth food tour! It is always a great experience. A few years ago, my husband and I went on the coffee walk for our anniversary. Although I live in the area and know the history well, hearing Karen discuss “what put Salem on the map” throughout the City’s timeline was my favorite part. She has a way of bringing history alive, pointing to the Friendship and envisioning Ship Captains walk along Derby Street. After that I planned a dinner tour for my mother’s 60th birthday. It was drizzly cold day in November, but I barely remember the weather; instead, the fresh ravioli at Jean Louis Pasta shop, Aussie Magic from the Cheese Shop, and the affordable yet AMAZING wine at Salem Wine Imports are what left a lasting impression. This past weekend I went on the afternoon stroll with some friends that were visiting from Hawaii. Again, Karen was fantastic. It was the perfect way for my friends to experience Salem and I got to reap the benefits of tasting new things. Kakawa’s American Elixir it is my new all-time favorite chocolate.
