About Salem Smugglers' Tour
Salem' Most Historic Tour that goes beyond the Witch Hysteria. The tour that excites you with the roots of today's news stories and the inventions you use daily! It tells you all the secrets in history they do not want you to know... Learn how Salem has shaped our relations with England, our Constitution, our national banks, and the current opioid crisis. Hear about the real murder behind the game Clue, a drunken elephant, the filming of Hocus Pocus, H.P. Lovecraft, Tesla, and real pirates who have shaped our government through 3 miles of smuggling tunnels. Be amazed at which presidents walked through our tunnels, which one was refused, and which ones were assassinated by men in Salem. Did you know men from Salem tried secession with those in Connecticut before the Civil War and the how that went terribly wrong before an age without instant communication? Did you know there was a second Witchcraft Hysteria? Salem Is More Than Witches!

The tour was informative and the guide was very knowledgeable about what took place in Salem, however, it was more of a talk then a tour. Our 1.5 hour tour took 2.5 hours and we only walked about 1.5 blocks. There was only 2 of...More

After eleven hours braving a Nor'Easter and being completely soaked to the bone, my group was having second thoughts about going on this tour. I am sure happy that we decided to stick it out. Chris did a great job given the circumstances. He thoroughly...More

The tour guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable. He provided lots of visuals. He presented too much info that felt scattered all over. I left feeling overwhelmed with all the details.

The tour guide seemed knowledgable but was constantly throwing around names and rushing through stories without giving dates or a clear timeline, making it nearly impossible to see connections. Unlike with most walking tours I have been on in other cities, I was unable to...More

Had a great walking tour- even despite the rain. Lots of great information that we (even as Salem residents) didn't know before. Guide was great with questions and steered the information he gave us around the questions we were asking. We'd definitely bring our out-of-town...More

Children under 16 might get bored with all of the history. We do have a Youth fee of $10 for those over 14. Children under 14 are free. We do take $8 off the regular adult price for Youth ticket purchases.

Hello, Sorry to see this so late. Yes I would think the tunnels could of existed back then, but not as elaborate as the extension in 1801. Some of the Old Planter families (original founders) had homes connected to the... More
