Family had never been on horses - and kids were desperate to try a ride. Visiting Tucson and realized we could combine the beauty of the dessert with an amazing riding opportunity. Can’t say enough about Houston’s. So professional - animals are clearly loved and well cared for - and owner and her husband seem to legitimately enjoy sharing their little piece of heaven with visitors. Loved Tucson and will be back for ride #2 when we return!

Live your Wild West dream and saddle up for a ride through the Arizona desert. See cacti, hear coyotes yipping, hear info about the area and its history. Great customer service and attention to detail and safety. Gentle horses who are treated well and suitable for all ages and skill levels. See the working ranch with a museum of antique vehicles and farm equipment, and watch the students getting rodeo training. Channel your inner John Wayne and be the star of your own western!

Wonderful horseback riding experience through the scenic Saguaro National Park (East) with two very knowledgeable trail guides. My horse, Mack, was extremely well-behaved which meant a very enjoyable ride for me. And all the staff from beginning to end could not have been nicer or more helpful.

My teenage daughter and I took the 9 AM tour and loved every minute. The horses were very well trained and easy to ride. The staff made sure that everyone was comfortable before setting out. Great location in the national park. Would highly recommend this tour!

“Biggie” was easy to ride, and I’m a first-timer on a horse.
LOVED this ride and tour. The horses were safe and responsive, the guides were informative and patient, the scenery was beautiful, all around a terrific experience.

We went on a ride this morning with Houston’s Horseback riding. It was an absolutely fabulous ride, and in the top two that we’ve ever done (and we’ve done a few). Our guides Stephanie and Lori were friendly, nice to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area. The trail was one of the most interesting parts of the Saguaro National park that we’ve seen, with varied terrain and some cool birds. How well the horses were taken care of and the prime condition they were in also really stood out. We highly recommend booking this experience!

Thank you Tanner and the Houston’s team! We were so thankful you had two extra spots for us on your morning trail ride. We loved the scene early and learning more about the area. We would definitely recommend this activity if you are ever in the area!

My husband and I booked a private trail ride for the afternoon. My husband was scheduled for surgery the next day and I was looking for a fun way to explore Arizona and to take his mind off of the upcoming surgery. It was a perfect choice! Cory was a great guide, very friendly and willing to answer our questions. She was always checking on our comfort. The views on the section in Saguaro Park were very special. Cory also took a photo of us that we will always treasure!

I took my grandson to Houston for a trail ride. We have both ridden before at other trail rides but this was an exceptional place. The horses were immaculate and obviously well cared for. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The ride went through part of Saguaro East National Park and was beautiful. Highly recommend!

My sister was visiting from England and what a fantastic experience for her (me too) to ride western through the desert. Absolutely loved the scenery. The guides and other staff at the ranch were so nice and friendly. The horses looked well taken care of and healthy. Keep in mind that like all trail rides, the horses walk their same routes like clockwork at a walking pace. This gave time to really enjoy the scenery. If you’re looking for a faster paced ride, I believe the ranch can arrange that separately. We’d definitely re visit the ranch on a future visit to Tucson.

We are experienced riders and would like to explore/cover some ground. Are there different levels for riding?

I’m answering my own question as we eventually went to this business. In my opinion, if you are careful and are under 30’ in length, it’s no problem.

Greetings.
I have only rode horses twice for less than half an hour. Do you need to have more experience than that for this trail?
Thank you.

Is the sunset ride appropriate for grandparents in their 60's and early 70's? Or is it too rigorous? Do you have many older people on these trail rides, or is that uncommon?

This is a great ride. The horses are gentle and well behaved and the staff is friendly and helpful. I am in my sixties and got along fine though the 2 hour ride was long enough as I do not ride very often. (The saddle gets pretty hard.)
