Sadly we were unable to get here to watch the sunset. However, we took the time to make the drive anyway. So glad we did. The drive is beautiful, we stopped at the parking areas, got out and took pictures. Watched a thunderstorm come into...More

The scenic road is beautiful. After visiting the Red Hills Visitor Center, we drove on the Gates Pass. The road is hilly. There are many good stops on the road. The mountains are beautiful with Saguaro. We spent about 30 minutes on Gates Pass Road.

I’ve ridden over gates pass dozens of times on my bicycle. From east to west and, the more challenging, west to east. The views of the city of Tucson are amazing, as are the views of the desert. However, if you are a cyclist it...More

Great way to get to the Tucson Sonoran Desert Museum, or take you back to your home in Tucson. Definitely a must for anyone who hasn't taken the time to drive this beautiful scenic pass!

We drove west though Gates Pass. It was very pretty, scenic and peaceful. There are a few parking areas if you wish to stop and look at the area.

All above are true. There is a couple of parking lots off the road and a covered viewing area but no picnic facilities, no grills or bathrooms. Just parking and trails.

You can stay in the parking lot and see the sunset or go to a paved overlook area right next to the lot.

At the top of the pass is a nice parking lot. Looks like paths go out several directions.
