Nick of Southwest Trekking led an hour-long guided hike along Ventana Canyon for Loews Resort guests. It was a wonderful, relaxed early morning hike that about 10-12 resort guests participated in. Nick had head lights for us and was super knowledgeable about the flora and fauna along the way. He was wonderfully entertaining and really connected with all of us in the group. My friends and I were so extremely glad we found out about this hike and to have Nick as our guide. Thanks again, Nick! Greetings from Houston!

I organised a Guided MTB Tour with Southwest Trekking and had a great time. The guide took me to a beautiful canyon in the desert, the MTB riding was great for all abilities, and when he identified that I could actually ride, he stepped it up a notch and we flew through the flowing turns, dodging the cactus. It was not all fast paced riding though, we took plenty of breaks, chatted about the desert plants and wildlife and compared it to 'home'. There was plenty of water and snacks on hand if needed. The bike was OK for me, but I am used to riding higher end bikes, so going back to a hard-tail was a challenge to start with.
All in all a great 4 hours, definitely worth my money! Highly recommended.

Koi was an awesome mountain biking guide. As novice mountain bikers he took the time to teach technique & safety. He did a great job picking a trail at our level & also was knowledgeable about local plants & animals. The only bad thing was that it had to end!

I cannot give a high enough recommendation to Southwest Trekking. pNut was fantastic on so many levels. 1) Tons of fun 2) Ability to customize our experience to exactly what we wanted 3) Incredible knowledge of mountain biking and nature 4) Loads of patience in teaching us methods for Mountain biking. We had an awesome time! The equipment is also tip-top. My friend and I were going to rent bikes and go on our own and after talking to pNut, we decided to hire him as our guide. We got so much more out of the experience by going with pNut and Southwest Trekking. He chose the perfect area for our ability, which also happened to be gorgeous! He also planned the timing perfectly for us to see the sunset. pNuts passion for biking and teaching other comes out in his natural enthusiasm.
At one point, I wiped out and my bike tire was punctured by a cactus. pNut came to the rescue, immediately checked my health and then went right into action changing out my bike tire. He had the preparedness and know-how of a true professional.
I wish I could take pNut on all of my adventures! If you're in Tucson, be sure to look up Southwest Trekking!

Trek in Catalina foothills. This 4-hour trek was by far the highlight of our 10 day holiday. Very well judged route was exactly hard enough to make us feel we had put effort in to the day, but not exhausted. John knew when we wanted a rest and when to press. Beautiful views. Very friendly and informative re geology, flora and fauna and lots of other subjects too. We will definitely call SW Trekking when we next go to Tucson.

In Tucson, staying at the JW Marriott, for Spring Break with the fam including my 2 crazy boys (8 & 10). We decided to put the boys in a 2 hr guided desert biking adventure while my husband golfed and I watched their little sis. Although I was a bit nervous at first, sending my little boys off into the desert with a stranger and full Camelbaks, I was quickly settled by meeting their awesome guides (Jim and Cassi) and seeing my kids ear to ear grins as they practiced riding their bikes on the front lawn of the hotel (sorry JW). 2 hrs later, when I met them back at the drop off point, I was greeted by my sweaty and happy (but amazing not tired enough) kids with stories of their amazing adventure.
My oldest enjoyed it so much he even behaved himself for the balance of the trip to earn another outing (little bro was golfing with dad). Cassi was his private guide this time. On his 2nd trip, however, my little daredevil encountered a lose patch of dirt (I'm told it was not bc he was going too fast... 😕) and had a wipeout worthy of American Funniest Videos. Fortunately for him, Cassi was prepared with all the first aid gear and was even nice to him as he picked the rocks out of his wound. Fear not, the only permanent damage was to the little aspiring ego and the story will surely live on to be larger than life.
In summary, a fabulous experience for my kids and that makes one happy mom! Thanks Southwest Trekking!

I was referred to Southwest Trekking by the concierge of the hotel at which I was staying with my family. I emailed the owner in advance of my arrival in the area and worked out details for a half-day hike for me alone. I am an experienced and avid hiker, so I requested a route with elevation gain and great views. I was not disappointed. My guide, Koi, was on on-time, friendly, and very knowledgable about local flora and fauna. In short, my hike on Wasson Peak was great and I would recommend ST to anyone.

My sister and I took a 2 hour trek from the Starr Pass JW Marriott Hotel with Dan. It was both of our first times doing mountain biking. We embarked onto a tough trail but were guided through the challenge beautifully! We both learned so much during our time on the trails and had an absolute ball! Dan provided tips, advice, and proper heads-up for upcoming challenges on the route we were taking. It was such a great first time out, and I would absolutely recommend their services to anyone of any skill level for a ride in the Tucson mountains!

We recently did a mountain bike tour with a group with lots of different experience levels. The guides were all first rate and extremely patient and always looking with safety first - always tracking where we were and communicating via radio. In short this was a highlight of my visit to Tucson thanks to this team. I'd highly recommend it!
