Step back in time

Step inside and say a prayer. Very peaceful. Great gift shop. Buy a candle. Buy some fry bread from the local vendor across the way

Imagine a mission that has been standing there since 1797. And it has been in continual use. The mission has been cared for and renovated over the years and truly is a thing of beauty. If you are into photography this is a great place to photograph both inside and out. It's only a couple of minutes off I-19 and... More

This is a beautiful church and a part of SW history. It really stands out in the desert. Please be respectful when inside the church but walk around (when no service is in process) and see the beautiful artwork.

Whenever we plan to be in the area, we will not miss revisiting the mission. It is always inspiring to visit the mission. It is under some restoration but does not interfere with the visit. The shop prices are reasonable and fun to shop.

This mission has been around hundreds of years. It's on an Apache Tribe Indian reservation and on the weekends, has many of the tribes people selling wares they have made and who are very friendly. A must see.

San Xavier Plaza is located in the Tohono O'odham Nation's reservation on 1-19 towards Nogales and the border. The most interesting part of this area would be the Indian Fry Bread which is made on the premises. Try it with honey! It is a bit greasy but it is an experience.

Not only is the church and its history amazing, great gift store next to the church and across the plaza also. Active church so be aware and polite. And the BEST fry bread anywhere around here.

Plaza is next to the San Xavier Mission - it was disappointing as most of the plaza store fronts were vacant - there were only 3 shops in all. We were expecting to have the opportunity to meet with local artisans but there were none. If you want go and take a look then you know ... we spent maybe... More

Nice Mission. Very Ornate inside so peaceful and its around 300 years old. You must come it's well worth the drive and a nice little day trip in AZ. They have indians out front that sell refried beans and fry bread. It also has a gift shop on the side of the mission which I couldn't get to go in... More

Image yourself the age you are now; experiencing air conditioning, the use of forced perspective, and acoustics for the first time and you might understand why the original peoples in 1797 were wowed.
