Highly recommended... Did the food tour and not only was I pleased with the high quality of food options selected, but very impressed with the knowledge of our Tour Guide Karen Brown. Sh was able to tell us the history of the city while at the same time allowing us to enjoy very good food. Highly recommended.

WOW! What a terrific activity for your visiting family and friends. I’ve lived here for 13 years and had already been to several of the destinations on the tour. However, there were some great places that I’d never been to before. Karen was fantastic! Enthusiastic, informative and easy to spend the day with. The tour had just enough local history sprinkled over some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Not too much walking and never had to wait to be served. It was such fun. I would highly recommend taking one of their food tours. I know I’ll be back.

Karen was our host. She was fantastic! Besides showing us some hidden gem dining spots, she was full of interesting historical info about each of the places....like the Italian restaurant that used to be the mortuary, or the oldest continuously operating family owned Mexican restaurant in the country...and the owners are not even Mexican! It was a relaxing walk around downtown on

We're now Tucson residents, but had friends from NC visiting. With COVID-19 looming, I wondered if the tour would happen, but the confirmation email arrived and we met the full group there at the Hotel Congress. Our guide for the day, Chris, introduced himself and gave us some historical flavor before we headed out. We visited 6 places along 4th Ave and near the UofA, using the SunLink streetcar to move between the two areas. It was great weather and each of the places was unique and great fun. Chris kept the whole thing rolling and was delightful. You could tell how much he loves hosting these tours and he was engaging and friendly. Lindy's (pizza) was one of my favorites. The Boxyard (Sonoran Dogs) had a great feel to it, a very clever concept. I'd definitely recommend taking the tour if you have the 4 hours to spend and have an adventurous spirit!

The tour was a bit of a disappointment. During the 4 hour tour we visited 5 restaurants, one tea shop and one whiskey bar. Each provided a nice sample. The guide had a very limited knowledge of Tucson's history and told isolated stories about events that occurred downtown. I would suggest you add a brief historical overview to frame the tour. One that includes the influence of the indigenous people, Mexico and Spain on Tucson. I do not recommend this tour.

Response from Maria L, Owner at Tucson Food Tours

We are glad that you enjoyed the food portion of the tour as that is our main focus! We do provide brief stories of history throughout the tour but as you said, it is only a 4 hour tour so we keep the history portion brief. Most of our guests are foodies looking for a food tour, as there are plenty of other history tours in Tucson to choose from. If you were expecting a history tour with a side of food then I can see why you would not recommend our tour. Thank for the the feedback. *please note that we sample food at 6 out of the 7 stops on this tour, not 5.
