Good rate for a short urban exploration by water. Good experience for younger kids, as the water was extremely calm and very shallow. While the city sites were interesting, their was a moderate level of floating trash that dampened our desire to explore further up river. Their was a limited areas downriver from the put in spot you could explore, due to currents and water traffic. It's easy to explore a fair distance up the river with the 90 minute time slot. It was a little difficult to find close parking, but once you walk towards the river, their is a large banner on the upper railing highlighting their location below.

As if Providence wasn’t awesome enough, now you can kayak or pedal boat through the city! We rented a two person kayak for 45 minutes for just $30 and it was great.

We paddled under all the bridges down the Waterfire route and back. Got to see the city and The Providence Flea from the water. The staff was very friendly and prepared us well.

If you’ve got any mobility issues it might be a little tricky to step off the dock into the boats but they are very helpful if you need it. This is such a great idea for Providence!

We only found this because it was right by our hotel. We had taken a guided boat tour of the lower river the night before and wanted to explore further up river where larger boats can’t go. Unfortunately, we waited until late in the day, because of the sun, to go and didn’t reserve a kayak in advance so they were all booked except for one. 😢 My son and I decided to split the time and we each went different ways. I would have loved to have had more time but it wasn’t in the cards since this was our last opportunity on our visit. Suggestion to the owners...be open on Monday of a holiday weekend!!!!! We would have loved a chance for go as a family for and hour and a half. To visitors, reserve your spot online before you go!! The staff was awesome and did all they could to help us out!

Hi guys, Thanks so much for joining us at both of our companies this Memorial Day weekend, we appreciate your business! Regarding your suggestion: Historical data showed us that we did very little business on the Memorial Day holiday (Monday) over the past two years, and it ended up costing us more money to open than we made. So, after much thought, we ultimately decided not to open today. We're still a relatively new company, so we are tweaking and learning as we go, and making adjustments to our staffing and hours of operation each season. Sorry we were (nearly) sold out yesterday when you arrived. We agree with your tip to others: Reserve your kayaks online before you arrive! (Sunday's can be busy) We're glad you enjoyed your paddle and we hope to see you and your family back in Providence soon! Kristin

I loved this tour! It's an early start but experiencing Providence at 8am before it gets really busy is super ideal.

CJ was our tour guide--crazy smart and informed. I've lived in Rhode Island my entire life and learned quite a bit. Providence is an interesting city (underrated in its interestingness!) with some beautiful buildings and monuments and you can't beat learning about/viewing them from the river.

The construction and relocation of the WW Monument and suicide circle was all news to me. I've heard a couple different stories about the origin of Rhode Island's name but like the Verrazano one best. It was cool to hear about it in a tour especially because I don't think many RIers are familiar with the story or Verrazzano for that matter. As a side note, the Verrazano monument should really be restored or replaced?

Parts of the tour were a little hard to hear (because...city) but CJ made the best of it and didn't miss a beat--everyone seemed to go with the flow.

Kayaks were super easy to handle and the paddle isn't intimidating. The tour never felt crowded, rushed, or slow. I think some kayaking experience is probably helpful so you can keep pace with everyone but you definitely don't need to be an expert. The tour is content driven to the hurricane barrier but CJ let us free paddle back to the basin without making stops which was nice!

This tour is such a great addition to our city--two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Can't beat the views, content, experience, or guide--would recommend to anyone :)

I was in Providence for a week on business and discovered Providence Kayak by accident when I noticed some kayakers Sunday afternnon and did a google search because it was a beautiful day. I was delighted to find them right in the middle of Providence close to downtown hotels.

Things to know: they rent kayaks in units of 45 minutes or 1.5 hours, starting on the hour, and currently only 10-4 start times on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. 45 minutes is a good amount and you would be hard pressed to use more than 1.5 hours since there is a limited stretch of river you can kayak in. You can go downstream past the S Water St Bridge (to this point it is very calm and easy kayaking) and beyond to where the new bridge is being constructed (about half way between the S Water St and Point St Bridges, but this area is more open and rougher). Depending on the tide you may be able to go upstream, and if so you can reach a nice wooded area.

The kayaks are good and it is a really fun way to see Providence. I liked it so much on Sunday that I organized a group of people I was meeting with to kayak at noon Friday.

This is an amazing way to see the city, and especially as a Rhode Islander, from a completely different perspective. Marcello is a fantastic tour guide with great knowledge and passion for the PVD waterfront. A little history, a little exercise and totally worth the money. A great way to spend a beautiful summer morning!

A great way to see Providence from a different perspective, and learn the local waterside history! Great customer service. The crew is very helpful, getting you in and out of the sit-atop kayaks. Covid precautions in place. Super reasonable rates. Tandem boats available if preferred.

Loved this adventure....wife and I are flight attendants and were on a layover. We took the whole crew for the kayak rental. This is a must do while in Providence...it is right downtown. Will definitely do it again if we get the layover....staff was professional and fun. Keep up the good work!

Wow! Thanks for the great review dtwbrian! We LOVE hearing from folks who aren't from Rhode Island and so appreciate you bringing your flight crew down for a paddle. Hope you can stop by on your next layover and until then, we wish you safe travels!

What a great tour of Providence! A great way to exercise your brain and your body. Marcello is an engaging and informative tour guide. He accommodates all skill levels and takes the time to orient those who are novice kayakers. His knowledge of Providence history runs deep.

We're so happy that you enjoyed your tour with Marcello, who was actually filling in for our regular tour guide CJ! He's been working the river for many years as a gondolier, so it only made sense that we put him to work as a tour guide. (and he's also my business partner, so it was fun to see him out there paddling with everyone!) Thanks again for joining us last weekend, we appreciate your business!

I rented a single kayak on August 10. Needed some relaxing recreation. I paddled from the Basin at Providence Mall to the new Footbridge down by Point Street. I paddled under the Memorial Street area near Dyer Street Dock. So much fun. Took tons of pics. Picked up trash and talked to gondoliers. Exactly what I needed.
