Good place to relax, enjoy leisure walk. There is a long pedestrian road alongside the river where you can walk and enjoy city's views.

You can walk along the river in its downtown setting, or take a gondola ride. The gondolas are a feature of Waterfires that take place on many weekends, but you can reserve spots and ride them at other times, too. Your gondolier may even serenade you with song.

I enjoyed walking along the river in the evening when coming back from dinner. The town lights torches along the river which gives the water an even more special reflection on a clear evening.

On the way out to dinner and back I decided that my route should take me along the river. With all the buildings lighting up the night sky it was quite spectacular.

We have traveled by gondola on it and walked the riverwalk. We've sat on the side of it and eaten above it. It is accessible and much more so than other cities and other rivers. A visit to Providence is not complete without homage to the vitality of the Providence River

The Providence River is really great when they light it on fire! Don't miss Waterfire! It's great in the Summer, but even better in the Fall, when the weather is chilly and the fires are hot!

The Providence River runs from Narragansett Bay into downtown Providence where it splits into the Moshassuk and Woonasquuatucket rivers. The waterfront area sports walking trails grassy areas and restaurants. The Fox Point area in particular has some busy after work drinking and eating establishments. However closer to downtown where the 2 rivers combine, is where they stage Providence Waterfire in... More

Waterfire is really cool. The river has steel baskets spaced along its length, which are filled with wood, and set ablaze at night on the weekends (not sure of the schedule). Grab a reservation at a restaurant along the shore, and have a great time.

The Waterfire adorned River Providence truly shone in its brilliance. The boat ride that took us by the fire lit necklace of the water was truly an amazing experience.
