We followed others advice and got there when it opened. It's a throwback experience as everything seems original, but still well maintained and sound. The chipmunks are everywhere at the top so be prepared to get some peanuts. The kids, including grown up kids, will...More

Take the tram to the top of Prospect Mountain for an extraordinary view of downtown Estes Park and the Estes Valley. It is a scary ride if you have anxiety problems!

Fun ride, worth the nominal cost and the views are stunning. The ride is totally safe but excitingly scary. DO THIS! You will survive and be proud you did.

This experience was better than I expected. I have been on many aerial rides, so I was not expecting too much. At the top is a small coffee shop and souvenir shop. Then there are also trails to climb.

Adults were around $14. Children were $11, I think. I also think there was a discount for senior citizens.

3 or 4 days sufficient for first time visit to Palm Springs (14 Replies)
Working on our return (2014- LA/SD/SF) plans to visit California May next year (17nts) with air tickets only booked so far. Thinking 7nts LA, renting car to PS for 4 full days followed by car to SD for 4 full days before driving last day back to LAX. Mid may for PS so thinking a hotel or other accommodation with a pool perhaps should the temperature be really hot but would hope to enjoy the desert atmosphere as a contrast to the other locations. Understand there are some desert parks...More

Hi, In May I would certainly want a pool as I'd expect desert temps to be in the 90sF during the day in Palm Springs. 3-4 days is a fine amount of time there. San Diego is a large city though with a lot to see/do so you may want more time there than in Palm Springs. The decision of how many days would be based on the number of activities you wish to see/do in each area.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Booking Advice. (5 Replies)
Hi, we are travelling from LA to Arizona and are planning a lunch stop and ride on the Aerial tramway. We will be travelling on a Friday 31st May. My question is, is booking essential as I'm a little worried about the LA traffic and arriving into Palm Springs at my booked time. It's not too much of a problem if booking is recommended, I can have lunch either before or after the tram ride. Any advice will be very helpful.

In May, on a Friday, you really don't need to prebook. Memorial Weekend would have been the prior weekend, so you should be fine. Get out of LA before noon to avoid the traffic headed east. There is a place to eat at the top of the tram, but you are better off eating in town.
Estes Park Aerial Tramway? (2 Replies)
Has anyone ever gone on the tramway in Estes Park? I just wondered if it was worth the money.

I always go when Im there. I like it for the view and for feeding the squirrels. Its admittedly a little boring after an hour or so, but I always enjoy it. Great pictures of the mountains. :)
