Just ok
Aug 2021 • Friends
I think the reason that our experience was just ok was the size of the group. There were 17 people for 2 guides. My group of 6 was right in the middle so we couldn’t hear the guide talking to the people in front and didn’t feel like we got any personalized attention. Most other tours that we’ve been on during our road trip were closer to 10 people.
The horses pretty much knew to keep in line and didn’t need to be steered. The scenery was pretty but we were hoping to see more wildlife in the 8am 2 hour Moraine Park Tour.

Did the 5 hour ride with Mary and it was AWESOME!
We saw so many different terrains the time flew by. I’m planning to come back out in the fall to see the color changes on the aspens. Highly recommend any ride at this stable and Mary as your guide! It is a great way to get onto Rocky Mountain National Parks trails and save yourself the blisters 😊

LOVE THIS OUTFIT!
Jun 2021
My husband and I are experienced riders, still this (3 hr Beaver Meadows trip) was a GORGEOUS and INTERESTING trail ride. The entire outfit inspires confidence and the wranglers and guides are HAPPY (which in the horse world means a lot). Even if this is your FIRST EVER trail ride, you will enjoy a genuine western riding experience. GO FOR IT!!

Afternoon adventure
Oct 2020 • Family
My wife and two daughters took a 2 hour afternoon ride this week and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The crew was so helpful to each person no matter how much experience you have as a rider. The guide talked and gave information thru the entire trip. The views were beautiful and even got to see a good amount of wildlife. This is a must when visiting RMNP.

Amazing experience
Sep 2020
My mom and I did the 3 hour ride and it was so much fun!We got to trot and we even saw a moose on the ride. Our guide(we feel bad we can't remember his name, but he is from florida and is going to school in Minnesota) handled everything great and always made us feel safe. He was personable and fun! We will for sure be back and will highly recommend this place to our friends and family! We've done a few horse back rides around Estes Park and this place is the best!

5-hour Bierstadt lake ride
Aug 2020 • Couples
The YMCA of the Rockies seems like a great place, and Jackson Stables lies within this large complex. They have a busy operation, with a lot of horses, wranglers, and rides offered.

We did the 5-hour ride to Bierstadt Lake, which is within RMNP. It ended up just being the 2 of us and our guide, and we had a very nice day. We had 2 breaks during the ride; one was a quick stop, where we had a short opportunity to dismount for a few minutes. The second break was probably about 45 minutes at Bierstadt Lake. We brought snacks to eat near the lake.

We did a fair amount of trotting during the ride, in sections of the trail where it was safe to do so.

I realized that we could easily have hiked to Bierstadt lake, but this was a nice alternative. We covered quite a bit of ground, saw a nice mix of scenery, and returned a different way than the way we came; I enjoyed both routes. We came down the switchbacks from the lake.

The horses were gentle and quiet mounts, and we had a very nice day.

Great Fun and Safe
Aug 2020 • Family
Seven of us went for a one hour ride this morning. Three year old rode with Daddy. Seven and nine year old and adults each rode a horse. Wranglers were careful about matching people and horses and providing guidance. Went to Glacier Creek and back. Kids had a great time. Fun for all. Book in advance.

3 hour trail ride
Jul 2020 • Family
Our group of 4 (ages 13-39) went on the 3 hour ride through the East Portal. It was everything we had hoped it would be! We saw several mule deer and the scenery is breathtaking. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the local landscape and wildlife. We definitely would do this again!!

Horseback Riding in the Rockys
We went horseback riding with YMCA of the Rockies. Staff was great! We went with a group of 12. It was just us in the group which was really nice. Most everyone in the group really enjoyed the ride. We did have issues with a couple of the horses wanting to eat ALL the time and the strap under the horse of an 8 year old rider came undone but the wrangler was very quick to respond. I have decided that we enjoy an hour ride but not more than that. Beautiful scenery on the ride but when you only ride once a year, my husband and I just got to sore to enjoy more than an hour!

AWESOME!!!
Jun 2020 • Family
Jackson Stables at the YMCA was a great experience. Everything about it was just amazing. There are plenty of options to choose from in terms of length of rides and if you have more experience I would definitely recommend taking one of the longer ones. We took the 4 hour ride which includes plenty of trotting. On this ride we saw plenty of wildlife and some really beautiful scenery. Wranglers were friendly and informative, while also making sure we were comfortable and safe, especially around some bull elk we saw right at the rest stop. Horses were awesome, very responsive and the barn was very well kept and well organized. Overall, awesome experience and would definitely recommend.
