Our group of eight, four kids/teens and four adults, booked a half day climb with CMS in Estes Park as part of a week-long vacation in CO. The day before our climb we realized that we needed to change our start time. There were other climbers in our scheduled outing so we couldn’t easily just make changes, but Luke Terstriep... More

I did the half day guided climb. We went to elderado canyon. I had never climbed outdoors before and my guide was great! He explained everything really well. They supplied all the gear needed. Defiantly recommend especially if you like to rock climb!

I took an ice climbing and AIARE Level I with these guys and I thought they were great! There's an on-site hostel too for students that is very reasonable. My instructors were friendly, professional, and experts in their field. I look forward to taking more training with them.

We took the Mountain Navigation class at CMS to prepare for a hiking trip in the Swiss alps. Jake Gaventa was a great teacher. Patient, knowledgeable, and thorough, he was able to communicate some challenging concepts to our novice hiking duo. And he gave us some great information about the trip/route we are taking. Feel much better prepared to go... More

A friend and I are hiking the Haute Route this summer but unfortunately lack the navigational skills to find our way out of a paper bag. Each of us also lives in mountain-less regions and lacked mountain orientation skills. We spent a full day with Jake in the Mountain Navigation course in Estes Park. Not only had Jake completed the... More

My husband and I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors, so naturally we decided to take a stab at ice climbing, both literally and figuratively. After doing some research, Colorado Mountain School seemed to be the quickest drive, as well as best buy. The morning of our intro course, we were greeted by a welcoming staff and waited in... More

I have never smiled so much watching someone else doing something. My 12-year-old son has wanted to learn to rock climb for a couple of years now. Jake Gaventa was an excellent instructor. He took him to "The Hand" in Estes Park for a four-hour lesson. Jake was patient, respectful and encouraging to my son. I figured there would be... More

Great staff! Went to the Boulder location - Everett was our guide. Half day your really reasonable. We went to Happy Hour Crag in Boulder Canyon. Felt like this secured the 'Colorado experience' for us! Had only been to indoor gym and I am quite a beginner. Great experience! Thank you!

My family didn't know quite what to expect, but we were all beyond pleased with our experience. Our guide, Ryan, was ridiculously good, encouraging and safe, he knew just what to advise and do to help our sons (and us!) have fun and surprise ourselves with what we could do!

We took our 7,10 and 11 year old boys to rock climb in Estes Park. They had an absolute blast! If asked, they'd say rock climbing was their favorite thing to do over our atv ride, ropes course and bike rental. Our little guy was scared at first, but our guide was calming and encouraging. Best money we spent all... More
