About
NOW OPEN YEAR ROUND. Originally opened June 2015 in Downtown Estes Park, focusing on craft beer, mead, cider, high-end distilled spirits and wines. In June 2017 The Barrel moved to its permanent location, 251 Moraine Avenue, Estes Park and is now able to offer guests the option of both a craft beer garden and craft beer hall. The Barrel offers guests a friendly and social atmosphere where they can catch up with old friends and meet new ones while enjoying the Rocky Mountains and loving some of the best that Colorado has to offer. The Barrel is both family and dog friendly (all year long). We love food, we just do not make it here. So, you are welcome to order from the food truck(s) onsite, bring in your own packed picnic, have food delivered or bring in food from any of the Estes Park restaurants. We do, however, have some tasty snacking options; please refer to our menu for a current list.

This place is SO Colorado. A bar with 60+ taps, a Mexican food truck, and an event space for a wedding reception. The music was at the right volume so people could actually talk to each other. The food truck had a family-size meal ready in less than 10 minutes. Patrons were provided an e-menu for the beer list so they could make their decision before getting to the bar therefore keeping the line short. Plenty of outdoor seating with kids activities. This was the perfect dinner to end our vacation with.

We were in Estes Park 5 nights and on 2 of them we ate/drank here. We loved the food truck variety each night as well as the beer variety on tap. We tried to go a third night but the truck had already packed up. This is a great alternative to other restaurants in town if you want a casual meal that won't break the bank.

We parked in the free parking lot, which is conveniently located next door. There is seating both indoors and outdoors. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and there was a mixture of families, groups and couples. We ordered two pints of Maxline red ale, which was delicious, together with chips and salsa from the Mexican food truck. The pints were a little pricey at $8.00 each, but well worth it. Inside, there was a pool table and plenty of seating. Outside, there is plenty of room, with bench seating. Worth visiting!

Don’t book your event here! We had the exact same experience as the reviewer before. We booked the patio for a wedding rehearsal dinner back in April for an event this month. The event coordinator sent an email canceling our event citing an error made by the previous event manager. We had an 11 page contract signed and left a $500 deposit. The deposit was refunded but that was not helpful as we had 60 people coming to Estes Park from out of state or country. This was only 2 1/2 weeks before our event. I scrambled around to find a new event with the help of our caterer and luckily the The Wheel Bar came through for us and we were able to get a last minute space there for our event!

This is a warning to all future party planners, wedding planners, brides, grooms etc. I am from out of state and I had signed an 11 page contract with them in March 2023. 19 days before our event they dropped our wedding planner an email saying with a heavy heart they were cancelling. No reason was initially given. Came to find out they multiple booked and “supposedly” someone rented the entire venue two months before us. Took them FIVE MONTHS to figure that out. Our wedding planner even confirmed details of our event two weeks ago. By the way - never a personal call from the owners, they hid behind Event Team signatures and email and blame it on an ex employee. The contract you sign isn’t with their employees!!! . They refund your deposit, say they are sorry and we are left to scramble and find another venue within two weeks and notify ALL of our guests that they cancelled.

WARNING: Ingrid Bush, the owner of the Barrel, makes it clear—this place is NOT for events. Avoid at all costs. Ingrid's incompetence knows no bounds. She showed up two hours late to set up for our event, then had the nerve to scream at us when we expressed our frustration. Her utter lack of professionalism and respect for our contract turned what should've been a joyous occasion into a nightmare. Don't make the same mistake we did. Stay far away from the Barrel and its despicable owner, Ingrid.

This looked like a really cool place to hangout and have a drink. My husband and I liked the outdoor atmosphere, especially during Covid-19. However, while in line to buy drinks, the female bartender was just rude to everyone waiting. She was complaining about her long hours and lack of breaks. She continually yelled at people to get in line and stay back from the bar. Everyone seemed uncomfortable and just looked at each other like, "What is her problem?" We decided to leave and go somewhere else. Her attitude just made us want to spend our money elsewhere. It's too bad because it was a neat place.

Tonight my wife and I went to this bar and wanted to enjoy the outside atmosphere. It is an attractive patio bar. There is a bartender at the outside bar. She has brown hair and a little heavy set. She asked me what I wanted to drink and I said " can you recommend an IPA" ? She said...."I don't play that game" and helped the person behind me. What??? A bartender that does not talk about local beers? When I finally did order she slammed the beer in front of me. Perhaps I got her on a bad night but there is no excuse for anyone in at a vacation spot like Estes to act that way to a customer. Perhaps it is a great spot but this bartender ruined our night. I want everyone to know about this person at this establishment. My hope is that she will find her right profession. Perhaps she needs to be a cab driver in NY City.

Look no More if you’re Looking for a Brew Fix in Estes Park. The Barrel has delivered every time. From Lagers to Stout they have that and everything in between. The staff is among the friendliest around. They are passionate about their products and will guide you to make the right choice. I mean, she spent a good five minutes explaining stouts and I landed in a whiskey barrel I would likely not had elsewhere. Easy to see how we came back 3 days in a row. They also have food trucks for your food fix that change every so often. We have been here three times and didn’t see the same twice.
Needless to say, the his place became out watering hole, one we are certain to come back to when in Estes Park!

Like everything thing around the world, Covid has changed the landscape for enjoying local craft beers. The Barrel is a taproom with both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior bar has been closed. No one is allowed in there. The patio is very large with lots of picnic tables spread out. They have a single bar open at the back of the patio. They create a social distance single line running up to the bar.
They have over 50 craft beers on tap and more in bottle and can. Multi-paged menu's are laying on every table. I recommend looking at that before you get in line or while you are in line. It takes a good 10 minutes to get through the line to the counter. If you don't know what you want, they take the person behind you while figure it out. I was there for about an hour and a half. Sometimes there were three bartenders working the one line, but other times it was one person. The closer it got to evening, the longer the line got.
I enjoyed myself here. The outdoor patio, beautiful views and cool weather made drinking local craft beers wonderful. A food truck was pulled up on the opposite side of the patio for food options.
