It's a "long and winding road" as the Beatles sang it. You'll encounter breathtaking views all along the way. Much less snow on the peaks than we expected, but still gorgeous. Be aware that the road can be rough in places... repairs were underway in several areas. It also has many areas with NO GUARDRAILS, which I found very disconcerting.

A better trip to return to Denver that the quicker options. You have various places to stop and walk around, and stunning views of Long Mtn

Travelling from Colorado Springs to Estes Park for vacation we chose to take the scenic byway and avoid the big cities. It added 30-45 minutes to a 3 hour drive, but the views, and experience was well worth it.

Another fantastic driving experience in Colorado. Plenty of pull-offs to take photos that will never do the scenery justice. Take your time, wind down the windows and wish you had a Harley.

Beautiful mile after mile, but few picnic areas or other points of interest. Great if your traveling from Boulder and it's on the way, otherwise stay in the park and take the Alpine driving trail.

Nice quiet drive thru the mountains. Stopped for lunch in a small town along the way. Much less traffic than other routes.

What a lovely drive! We traveled it several times while on our vacation. At all times of the day, it looks different and wonderful! It's a must see... take the time to stop at some of the lookouts and listen to the streams and creeks. And, you won't get any kind of gps or cell signal, so bring a map.... More

If you have the time and no where to be the peak to peak scenic Byway is an amazing opportunity to see the Rocky Mountains at it finest. there was never a moment when I didn't try to take a picture. Be it of small off the road stops that offer unique views or the fact that the road winds... More

Nothing to say but....aaahhhhhh....the energy of the homesteaders still lingers. Makes me want to build a cabin and start plowing.
