- Lar H1 contributionGreat ride, well trained horses and the perfect guides. We were so glad we booked the horseback ride through Crescent Trail Rides. The guides were very friendly, helpful, and showed us points of interest and talked about redwood forest history. It was my 2nd time on a horse and the horse did fantastic. Highly recommend it!Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 16, 2023
- Sylvie MMarana, Arizona7 contributionsHorse back riding in the enchanted forrest! What a perfect way to experience the magnificent Redwood Forrest! The horses were sure footed and very gentle! 5 of the 7 of us had no horse riding experience and walked away with smiles and happy stories to share. Laurie, our trail guide, was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. We all felt very comfortable with her. We brought apples and carrots to share with our horses afterwards! They loved it!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 19, 2023
- peakdevelopmentlcSalt Lake City, Utah1 contributionAmazing Redwood Forest Ride!We thoroughly enjoyed our ride through the Redwood Forest. The guides were extremely friendly, showing us points of interest, answering questions and talked about Redwood Forest. They shared information about the horses which really had an impact on the younger members of our group. If I could give them 10 stars I would. One of the girls says this was the best part of her entire vacation. Thank you so much!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 26, 2023
- Sunshine704524Tustin, California2 contributionsThe best horse back riding experience in Humboldt County!Crescent Train Rides is friendly and accommodating. They are very patient and helpful to those who have little to no riding experience. Their heart for people, their horses, and the beautiful environment we rode in is self evident. Our family loved our forest ride and highly recommend this group to anyone! We look forward to seeing them again!Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 12, 2023
- Taylor B1 contributionMagical day 🙌Our ride was AMAZING. It was a sunny day and beautiful trail. Such a fun and relaxing way to explore some BIG redwoods! Our guide was knowledgeable of the area, friendly and patient. Plus our horses were well trained which made us feel so safe! - Jen9802Portland, Oregon1 contributionWonderful horses and guideMy 2 teenagers and I chose to do a horseback ride on the beach. The weather was not ideal, but there was clear communication up until our time slot. We decided to chance it and go for the ride anyway. It was windy and cold, and rained and hailed on us, but the ride was really fun! The horses were perfect for us novices, well taken care of and our guide (Lori) was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We learned a little of the history of Tolowa Dunes State Park. When we make our way back to Crescent City, we will be sure to book another ride with Crescent Trail Rides.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- Alexis KIndianapolis, Indiana1 contributionPerfect intro to the Redwoods! This was an incredible way to start our trip to see the redwoods! We were able to meet up at the trailhead and have an awesome guide show us the way along the horse trails. Great horses that had personality and rode easy. The tour was informative and stunning, our guide even took our photos and airdropped them to us after the ride. She answered all our questions and laughed with us during our ride. It is really a totally different and beautiful view to see the Redwoods on horseback and I encourage everyone to do this at some point on your journey! 10/10 would recommend!Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 17, 2024

- Patricia C10 contributionsNewbies welcomeWhat an amazing ride. I am 58 and have not been on a horse since I was five and the horse was going in a circle. The team made me feel very comfortable and once I got over my own nerves and got to know my horse Boots, we had a great time. The ride starts out in the trees and brush. Midway we were on the beach for a lovely view and ride. You will be so happy when you see the beach. It was like we were in a movie. I could not recommend this group enough. The lead would point out wild life and historical facts. We had an amazing time.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 12, 2024

I've always wanted to ride horseback on the beach. Crescent Trail Rides provided a fun and enjoyable experience that was one of the highlights of our road trip! The guides were friendly and knowledgeable about the landscape and its indigenous history. The horses were well-behaved. When we got onto the beach, we saw pelicans and cormorants flying above the sea. We even saw seals playing in the waves! There were several children in our group who were a bit nervous at first, but by the time the ride was over, they didn't want to get out of the saddle! Our lead guide took pictures and video of us on our horses, which were provided to us free as souvenirs. I would recommend Crescent Trail Rides to anyone looking to experience the northern California coast from a unique and memorable vantage point!

I'm a great grandma and wanted my great grandson to have a fun trail ride. He DID. He loved every minute of it! I'm old and fat and have problems with my legs. Laura/Lauren and Jaden were amazing at helping me get on a VERY tall horse and get OFF!!! After two hours on this gentle giant i couldn't even feel my legs and was secretly in panic mode. These ladies plus another rider made getting off my horse (and getting on) manageable. The scenery was beautiful, the ocean was my favorite part. Highly recommend this co. for horseback riding. Amazing ladies!!! My great grandson can't stop talking about how cool his ride was and now he wants his own horse. !!! Thanks so much for your kindness.

We had such a fun time! Our group of four ranged from ages 8-70 and everyone was well taken care of. My kids are of the extreme wiggly variety and Laurie and her staff were so patient and kind to them even when I was ready to pull my hair out. Her horses are obviously well taken care of, and I liked that she got our height-weight info ahead of time so we didn’t have to stand around while they sorted out horses. Everybody was already assigned and we got right to it. It was a lovely ride through the Redwoods, and I would love to do the beach ride someday. A great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend!

My 11 yo daughter, 24 yo neice and I all enjoyed the 1.5 hour trail ride so much that we wished it was a half day. The horses are incredibly well cared for (manes and tails brushed, not one bug bite bump etc) and the owner is extremely knowledgeable about each. She did a great job matching horses to riders and just made it so enjoyable.

We had a marvelous time during our horseback riding along the beach. There was a nice combination of the trail through the meadow, along the sand dunes, on the beach and even in the woods so it was Beautiful scenery all along the way. Our guides were friendly, informative and easy-going. It was fun being on a horse along the dunes and the beach. It was also a small group, and that kept it intimate and friendly. I would definitely go riding with this company again, next time probably trying the trail into the redwoods.

We had such a wonderful time, it was just my boyfriend and I on the tour, our guide was so nice and knowledgeable. It was definitely a peaceful ride and Rigs and Danny were great horses. Next time we will do the beach tour. We would definitely recommend this to couples who want a peaceful experience. 3hrs was kinda long considering he had never rode a horse before and it had been 20yrs since I had, we were definitely sore the next day, but other than that it was a great experience!

My daughter-in-law and I enjoyed a one and a half hour horse riding adventure through both forest and Towola Dunes State Park viewing several deer, a distant elk herd and riding right along the ocean shore. Also passed by an American Indian historical site hidden away on our trails. Our guide was informative and very helpful, the scenery stunning, and our horses were beautiful and well behaved. This trip was a belated birthday gift to my "daughter!" We were relaxed and felt carefree and refreshed in spirit. We were very pleased with every detail!

My ten year old niece and I really enjoyed our Beach Ride. We are both horse girls so a trail ride is an absolute must on vacation! The horses were well-matched to each rider and were surefooted and willing partners on this fun ride. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and informative, pointing out bird species we saw along the way as well as sharing historical information on the area. The scenery was breathtaking! Highly recommend!

If I recall correctly, there were two people in our group who were about 235 pounds each and said they called quite a few other places and were turned down before finding these folks.
