We could see over a hundred sea lions swimming in groups near the pier.
It was a really cool experience.
Not always, but we got a good chance to visit it when we went there.
It was the greatest luck of my life.
It is definitely a place you want to go again.

The B Street Pier near the lighthouse is a great place for a stroll in a beautiful setting. It is located at the base of B Street, and is protected from the ocean waves by the outer jetty.

From the end of the pier, you can look back toward town, across the bay at the marina, or out toward the ocean. Any direction you look is very scenic.

You can drive right to the base of the pier, then park and have a nice walk. It's wheelchair accessible. There are a couple of stone tables and chairs where you can have a picnic.

The pier and parking area are well lit at night, and the view toward Battery Point lighthouse is dramatic. The pier is a great place to watch the sun go down behind the lighthouse.

This is a popular spot for locals to fish ... or to just relax and enjoy the beauty of the area.

First off, it is a nice, large pier, Locals and visitors alike enjoy fishing, crabbing or hanging out. A zoom lens will get you a nice shot of the Battery Point lighthouse. Stay for sunset in the Spring or Fall for some glorious color. One question the locals never quite got an answer for was why build it so close to the sewer? Why was the sewer even built so close to town anyway? Not nearly as bad as it used to be, but some days you will just want to find something else to do.

Worst experience ever!!!
I took my 8yo to Crescent City to go crabbing for his birthday. We tried the pier but the locals leave their crab pots on the pier 24/7 so you can’t get a spot. And even with the 50 traps in the water (every 5 feet) all we saw caught was one 4” rock crab over 6 hours. We then asked the waitress at the local diner about Citizens dock, but she said that was only for commercial fishermen so we tried to go off the jetty, where the security guard told us we needed a license. So we went to Englund Marine Supply to buy a $20 day license. The man was nice and told us that we Should go to citizens dock but that we’d need to buy $60 worth of bouys first because we had box traps not rings. So in the end, I took my son to Ocean World, which was fun, but we will not be going to Crescent City again.

We read that this was a free public fishing/crabbing pier and decided to go check it out. We surely were not disappointed with our time spent here. We picked up all the crab stuff we needed at the local WalMart (don't forget the stinky bait if you're getting chicken and gloves to put it on, seriously it stinks and seeps into your skin) and headed to the pier. First cast, we pulled up a bunch of smalls and snails. A local that was fishing gave us some tips and ideas on what to do and where to cast our pot for best result. First day, picked up a red rock crab for dinner. The local was awesome and gave us one of his Dungeness Crabs (he had caught several) to try. InstantPot dinner success! Went out again for Mothers day better armed with knowledge and pulled in three of our own dungeness monsters. One other tip, stop by the marina near by at the fish cleaning station and grab some guts and heads. Yes, it works great and FREE BAIT! Just don't make a mess!

What can I say about a place where you can show up at midnight, throw a few crab pots in the water and socialize with the other hardcore crab catchers...and do it safely!
Wonderful views and worth the walk even if you don't fish.
Word of advice...the seagull's think your bait (or food, for that matter) is for them...so keep an eye open for the occasional aggressive gull...otherwise, see you there!

We visited the pier to do a little fishing and crabbing. You don't need a license to fish or crab from a pier in California. We parked right at the beginning of the pier and walked about halfway out. Bring your own chairs. We threw out one crab trap and then set about fishing. It was a little chilly and foggy. It's a great place to interact with other people. The views were very pretty. We didn't catch any fish or crabs, but we had a very pleasant and peaceful couple of hours.

It's a short walk from other great destinations park here and walk to the light house , park , swimming pool , soccer fields , ultimate frisbee course , agget beds , great scenery u could waste hours sight seeing and having fun . The pool does cost however , and tours through lighthouse also but fishing and crabbing from pier does not require license enjoy !

It was a beautiful spot to look out and see Crescent City, but I sort of felt like it's an ignored area. It feels run down, not rustic. It needs a little TLC because the view is beautiful.
