Actually, we walked the Levy instead
Aug 2020
The Levy is quite a stretch, and definitely not recommended unless it's low tide! Warning signs all over that this could be very dangerous otherwise.

Great place to watch sea lions swimming in groups ...
Feb 2020
We could see over a hundred sea lions swimming in groups near the pier.
It was a really cool experience.
Not always, but we got a good chance to visit it when we went there.
It was the greatest luck of my life.
It is definitely a place you want to go again.

Nice Enough
Oct 2019
It was a beautiful spot to look out and see Crescent City, but I sort of felt like it's an ignored area. It feels run down, not rustic. It needs a little TLC because the view is beautiful.

Nice Stroll
Aug 2019
It was a nice stroll to the end with nice chats with local fisherman and photo ops of the nearby lighthouse.

Great place to crab and learn how to from locals
May 2019
We read that this was a free public fishing/crabbing pier and decided to go check it out. We surely were not disappointed with our time spent here. We picked up all the crab stuff we needed at the local WalMart (don't forget the stinky bait if you're getting chicken and gloves to put it on, seriously it stinks and seeps into your skin) and headed to the pier. First cast, we pulled up a bunch of smalls and snails. A local that was fishing gave us some tips and ideas on what to do and where to cast our pot for best result. First day, picked up a red rock crab for dinner. The local was awesome and gave us one of his Dungeness Crabs (he had caught several) to try. InstantPot dinner success! Went out again for Mothers day better armed with knowledge and pulled in three of our own dungeness monsters. One other tip, stop by the marina near by at the fish cleaning station and grab some guts and heads. Yes, it works great and FREE BAIT! Just don't make a mess!

you might get to see some sea lions which was a fun experience for our children. I would suggest going early so you can experience tranquil energy.

Great for a morning walk
Oct 2018 • Family
My husband went for an early morning walk & really enjoyed the view. He drove out with me later so I could see it also. Can't get enough of just soaking up the gorgeous scenery all around us. Love Crescent City.

Walk out into the harbor.
Aug 2018 • Couples
If you like to walk out over water here is a great place to do it. Take a coat because it is always windy.

A little fishing.
Jul 2018 • Couples
We visited the pier to do a little fishing and crabbing. You don't need a license to fish or crab from a pier in California. We parked right at the beginning of the pier and walked about halfway out. Bring your own chairs. We threw out one crab trap and then set about fishing. It was a little chilly and foggy. It's a great place to interact with other people. The views were very pretty. We didn't catch any fish or crabs, but we had a very pleasant and peaceful couple of hours.

Nice walk
Jun 2018 • Couples
The view is worth it. Watching all the birds made it fun. Several people crab and fish off the peer so that is fun to watch. It is worth it.
