We were on a road trip and found our own drift wood walking stick. On the beach. Which made a great souvenir, and we used them everyday on our week long road trip seeing nature spots. Here the rock formations, make many tide pools too. To see creatures. If you are towing, and it is not busy, roadside parking is big enough. From here, driving south, is a very pretty drive too. Along the coastal houses.

Pebble Beach Dr. extends from the Brother Jonathan Cemetery and Pt. St. George Park at 8th St. north to Washington Blvd where the Pt. St. George Heritage area begins. Named for the tumbled agate stones washed out of the mountains ages ago. you can walk, bike or drive along the road, as well as access the beach at numerous points. Lots of locals scour the beach after big storms looking for exposed agates. But be careful on beach walks. The incoming tide can leave the unsuspecting trapped on the beach against a cliff wall with no easy exit. Several parking overlooks contain information signs for local flora, fauna and history. Surfers (when conditions are right), sea lions, harbor seals and lots of birds can be found all along the beach. A favorite spot for picnicers, Pebble Beach Dr. provides many spectacular photo opportunities, especially for sunsets and during stormy winter days .

Along the huge beach there are lots of stones with fantastic shapes. You can vary the distance of your hike from short to very long, however hike after 1 PM when the tide is going out, otherwise much or all of the beach may be under water.

This pristine beach is a very short drive from the center of Crescent City. There are rocks and tide pools to explore and tons of pebbles and agates to search for. We even found some hag stones. Our kids had a great time playing in the water.

Just a short stop for picnic lunch. Small little parks but very nice and quiet. Nice little memorial park in the center.

The beach isn't really worth your time but driving along the coast for a few minutes is worth the time. Don't go out of your way especially if you have been driving the coast and have limited time.

You can see WHALES almost any time of year. There are California Grey whales migrating and there are also pilot whales who live here full time. There are also seals and Great White sharks who make part of their home here once in awhile.
Surfing is great.

Pebble Beach Drive doesn't get alot of tourist hype but it only delivers some awesome views of the rocky Pacific Coast. The Drive begins just north of downtown Crescent City and extends past urban development. Best to plan to make most of your viewing stops going south.

If you are looking for a resort style beach, this isn't it. This is a northern California beach complete with scenes of rocks, ocean, and redwoods off in the distance. Take a few minutes or more to absorb all that is lovely here.

It really doesn't matter what beach you go to in Crescent City because they all are beautiful. Pebble Beach Drive takes you to several beaches along the way and they are all worth stopping at. Sunsets are spectacular from here!
