We made this visit on a lark, purely because it was on our way to Volcanoes Natl Park. We were blown away with the depth of representation that exists at this site. Please make plans to go!

This was a very interesting stop on our way from Kona to Hilo. The ocean and view were beautiful and the buildings and carvings were unlike anything I have seen in person before.

No tour necessary, though I'm sure there are folks hoping to charge you. Pu'uhonua o Honaunau it is an easy drive from Kona, and it is a National Park, so other than a modest entrance fee, no other costs. Once in Park... More
