We did the Blackwell Manor and had a fantastic time! We really enjoyed the storyline of the room and all the puzzles. We took our 10-year-old son, and I was worried from the other reviews that the room may be too scary, but he wasn't scared. But there were a few jump scares to keep you on your toes :) We can not wait to come back and complete all their escape rooms. Our new favorite place for escape rooms!

What a blast this was. Took my daughter for her 18th birthday and we had an unforgettable time!! Definitely would do it again! It is a bit pricey, but I understand the cost it must be to run an amazing operation like this as well. The scene was so realistic and staff super friendly!

We were in Albuquerque for the weekend and heard great things about Blackwell Manor, so we decided to give it a try. What a horrible experience. I had high hopes given the pricing and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the set design when we entered the room. It went pretty downhill from there. We were given the rules ahead of time. We have played over 600 rooms nationwide and never had a problem. We are in our 40s and not children. Two minutes into our game, the lights go up and we are greeted by our gamemaster with a small trash can and scolded. We were told we were asked politely to spit out our gum and the "manager" stated "we clearly were chewing gum. So, like a small child, we opened our mouths and stuck out our tongues to prove we didn't have gum. How absolutely embarrassing and degrading. After we were shamed and left to our devises, we continued on though the excitement had definitely been deflated from the experience. Minutes later the lights would need to come up again and our game interrupted as a trigger did not go off leaving us completely lost on where to go next as the game is completely linear. Upon our escape, I expected to meet the "manager" who had accused us of not following the rules, but they chose to remain hidden behind the curtain. No apology or even acknowledgement, just thanks for your money. Goodbye. This is one of the worst escape experiences we've ever had. It's really a shame.

We have played over 80 rooms in various states and played 2 games here- Bombshell and Super Secret. This place puts a lot into their room design but not so much thought into the puzzles. The puzzle style felt more like an arcade to me with several time-consuming physical puzzles rather than mental creativity. Also, in the theatrics of one of the rooms, they ate several minutes of our time with dialog we had to listen to and room was darkened so nothing else could be worked on at the same time. Both clue systems were irritating, one only one person could hear a clue given over the phone and the other was on a timer and when we did get one it wasn’t always relevant to what we needed. Both games we played turned out to be way more frustrating than fun.

Escape rooms are so much fun. And New Mexico Escape Rooms offer some of the best experiences around. I've been to both locations. They are both outstanding. I'm going to continue going back until I have gone through all the rooms.

We did three of their rooms, two from one location and one from the other, and all of them were amazing! The Blackwell Manor room was incredible, probably the most immersive room we've ever done. Super Secret was full of campy jokes and is a great room for anyone who loves superheroes, and The Cabin is a creepy old school thriller. If we are ever back in Albuquerque, we will definitely be doing their three remaining rooms.

We went for a family Valentine's day outing and we had so much fun. The staff was great and made sure we were prepared for our "escape". I plan on making it back for another adventure!

We went to the New Mexico Escape Room with our 15-year-old granddaughter and we had a blast! In fact, we loved it so much the first time that we went back a second time later that week. The first time we managed to solve the Blackwell Manor puzzle (with only a few minutes to spare) but then we got stumped by the Bombshell puzzle. Oh well, that's for another time. Scenarios are extremely well done with lots of automation and puzzles to keep you involved. Good for both a small or large group. Highly recommend!

An excellent time and experience. Love making my brain work hard even if I can't come up with the answers. A great way to spend time with friends and family and actually interact with one another. Try it and you'll be hooked!

Is this appropriate for children? e.g. 9 year old? Is it scary or gory at all?
Most of the rooms are appropriate for all ages. However, The Cabin can be a little scary at times. I would suggest Duel at Dusk or The Family Jewel for that age group.

I'm interested in knowing experiences from people who went with just 2 people and were put together with others, was it awkward? How does it work to work through the activities with strangers?

Escape rooms are designed to be solved with the maximum number of people. If have too few, it is impossible to search the room and complete the puzzles in the hour given. I have solved six escape scenarios with strangers. My experience has been that everybody's too busy for things to feel awkward. However, I have had disagreements in the group with respect to whether or not a hint was appropriate.

Do I need a reservation?
I would recommend making a reservation before arriving. All bookings are done through the website. They get booked up fast, so reserve a spot early!
