About
Hip Stitch is Albuquerque's favorite modern quilting store. You'll find friendly, helpful people with expertise in quilting, sewing, machine and hand embroidery. This well-lighted fabric store is the one to see in Albuquerque. You'll find a great selection of Grunge and other blenders, plus souvenir fabrics that will remind you of your time in the southwest, including theme fabrics of hot air balloons, chili peppers, Route 66, Native American, cowboys, cactus, Frida Kahlo, Day of the Dead and much, much more. Selected by Quilt Sampler magazine as a "Top Shop" your trip to Albuquerque isn't complete without a visit to Hip Stitch, if you quilt, sew or stitch. You are ALWAYS welcome at Hip Stitch, where you're only a stranger once, but we're a little strange all the time.

I'm in Albuquerque with friends and try to visit quilt shops when I travel. I was not disappointed in "Hip Stitch"! It's not a large store but they have unique fabric, books and patterns. The staff was so very friendly and informative. I liked a notebook cover that was displayed. They searched till they found the link to the website it came from and wrote it down for me to take home. I am so glad I stopped by and will definitely return on my next visit to Albuquerque!

This is a small quilt shop specializing in modern quilts, quilt fabrics, and instructional books. The whole place is so cute u won't want to leave! Owners are educated, helpful and enthusiastic. Grab an authentic Mexican food lunch just a couple doors down at Taco Shel (cash only).

I walked into Hip Stitch and was shown all around the store by the friendly staff! There were so many fantastic new fabric lines including solid colored and geometric batiks! Mind blowing! The selvage quilt and pillow display were mind blowing, I purchased the book and so many fabrics! I wish I could have taken home all the fabrics. My husband and I travel with our motorhome 6 months a year and I've been to quilt stores in 22 states (including Canada) and believe me, this store is a gem!

I have shopped here for the past year. I have also taken two classes at Hip Stitch in that time, and I find this a very open and friendly shop with extremely knowledgeable sales staff. There is an expansive array of fabric. I have learned so much just by asking the smart people who work there when I have a sewing/quilting question.

Can’t say enough good things about Hip Stitch and the people who own and operate it! Just purchased some beautiful, unique fabric for a special project for my daughter’s upcoming wedding. Not only was it a great price, I got specific instructions on how to pre wash it and when discussing the project I got additional tips on how to take on the extra details of the project. No matter when I go in, there is always someone with direct experience in whatever it is that I am working on and they freely give their opinions; happy to contribute to my sewing process! The selection is ever changing and fresh and to top it off, Suzanne and Steve give us the bright, large sewing space, that is adjacent to the store, to sew in for three hours twice a month for our charity sewing group, Women To Be! Their generosity is so appreciated.

The fabric is exceptional (truly) and they've got lots of fun patterns and sewing gadgets. Really though, everyone comes here for the people. The the atmosphere of this store is warm and inviting, and the staff is hands down the best in town.

This store is amazing! They've got customer service down to an art form - my friend went in for the first time on Veterans Day and she said she felt like a rock star. They've got a gorgeous selection of fabrics and projects of all kinds. They've also got a great selection of clothing patterns, home sewing ideas, contemporary quilting books and magazines, and other just plain fun stuff to look at! I know I'm not being terribly eloquent here but trust me, if you're into fabric stores this one should be at the top of your list for Albuquerque. Oh...and sometimes there's snacks. :)
