Half of the charm of this place was the atmosphere.. All the awesome quirky stuff has been removed, and they dont open till 8pm. I personally prefer to be leaving downtown by 830-9pm heading somewhere less crazy for the later evening. I guess burts doesn't want to attract 30 somethings anymore. This is a good , old fashioned downtown bar. We happened to be there the night of the Dias de la Muertes. Got there early and enjoyed watching all the people come in with the face paint and costumes. Bar service was great and they have very comfortable big booths that give you a full view of everthing going on... More

It was such a relief to find such a funky place to relax. Free live music! The house music was a relief to me-no brain-dead pop or dance muzak. I went to see a friend's band play. I dig the crowd and the bar tender made a fine beverage. Good bands, good booze...good enough.

go on tuesdays, all tiki drinks are 4 dollars, tasty, strong drinks for a good price, awesome atmosphere.
