Stopped at the tasting room on our way in from the airport- what an experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Aja, who was personable and full of information about the wines. The flights are just the right size and the atmosphere very comfy. Most important of all, the selection of sparklers was delicious. Easy off/ on highway.
A must try if visiting .

We’ve enjoyed Gruet sparkling wines at home and were eager to visit the winery. With Cliff as our host and guide, my husband and shared a customized tasting flight. The wines were all very good; we especially enjoyed, (and purchased) the 2016 Reserva Rose ( only available at the winery), and the NV Rose Sparkling wine that is available in the half-bottle format. Beyond sparklers, Gruet also makes a beautiful rose and some nice reds. The tasting flights are reasonably priced and the cost can be offset by a 6-bottle purchase. Small gift shop area. The outdoor space is lovely with water features, lavender and ample seating.

We just stopped in for a quick tasting. It was a decent experience but the current situation made it a little unenjoyable. The facility must had recently painted as the area we sat in had a very heavy paint smell to the point that you could taste it. We asked one of the servers (Holly) if they could open a door to air it out and she did which helped. One of the other servers, did not get her name, just gave us a dirty look when we asked about it. The wine was good and was at a decent price. Holly was awesome the entire time, very nice and accommodating. The building was nice and after the paint dries and smell is gone I am sure will be a different experience.

Gruet makes some seriously high quality bubbly without the massive pride tag. My husband and I drink the sauvage rose and it’s one of my favorite sparkling wines I’ve ever had. The staff is always very friendly at the freeway location. I can’t wait until Covid is over so we can do tastings again! Lovely place. Highly recommend if you are in the area

We became wine club members (again) prior to this Thanksgiving as we were driving west to Colorado with a stop in albuquerque. Today, a month plus over, we stopped in for our complimentary glass. Ash, our young server, remembered us. Did we misbehave the last time? Anyhow, it was a pleasant, drop in experience. On our next trip here we will sample their wonderful charcuterie. BTW, their chardonnay, which Ash remembered I liked is great if you don't like oak. Their pinot noir is great as well. Please visit!

You should visit this winery if you love sparkling wine (champagne). Their still wines are not bad, but extremely overpriced. The tasting room is quaint, but their servers are the WORST!!!. I gave this winery a 3 star only for the sparkling wine. Their staff have no personality, no desire to make the customer happy to be there. They can tell you very little about the wine by responding in a recorded voice and no facial expressions. Unfortunately for them I am in the same business and I would never make the customer feel like they were bothering the help or not make for a fun atmosphere. These people are dull and uncaring. Sorry Gruet, but get some people in your tasting room that are happy a customer came to visit. You can buy the wine at your local supermarket, so you do not have to visit the winery and ask why did I come here in the first place.

After reading the comments, mostly negative, about the Gruet Winery tour, we decided to form our own opinion. On Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, we stopped in to take the tour. After a few moments in the gift shop/tasting room, a young woman stepped out to greet us. When we asked her about the tour, she said there was no tour because someone had called in sick and she was the only person available. She did offer to do a tasting but her body language showed she really wasn't interested. Because the music was playing very loudly and she was difficult to understand, one of group members asked her to turn the music down so that she could hear and the hostess got disgusted. She did turn down the music but by that time, we were all pretty disqusted with her unfriendly attitude and we decided to not taste the wine. Also, this winery is not like the wineries in Napa Valley. There are no vineyards. It is only a small production company nestled along I-25 next to all the other businesses. I would not recomment wasting your time.

This winery was the location of a 70th birthday celebration last Saturday evening, and we as guests thought everything was as perfect as it could possibly be.
Our group of 60+ used both of the party rooms, with the traffic flowing smoothly back and forth throughout the evening. The tasting room was set up with an expansive, attractively presented buffet beautifully managed by Jason. Each of the delicious offerings was clearly labeled, a real benefit for gluten-free and vegetarian guests and those not so enamored with New Mexico's hot chiles. In the barrel room, Kendra and James were hospitable and knowledgeable bartenders not only for Gruet's many enjoyable wines but also for offerings from other wineries. In this room we also enjoyed music for dancing from the remarkable Durango, CO-based singer-songwriter Tim Sullivan, hired for this special occasion by the hosts.
We are grateful to have been invited to such an elegant and fun event, and we highly recommend this winery to you if you are looking for a party venue you and your guests will remember for a very long time.

I saw a terrible review of this winery from two years ago on Google. Apparently, this establishment has stepped up their game. One of the complaints on that dated review was that the guy waited for quite some time before anyone showed up to greet them. The front tasting area was not manned when we arrived so, like an adult, I went right to the office and let someone know they had customers. After that, the staff member that assisted us was very friendly, intelligent and not hard on the eyes at all. She knew about the wines and led us through a wine-tasting that was very satisfying. They specialize in sparkling wines...and they were indeed very good. We ended up purchasing one sparkling and one regular bottle of wine. For our efforts we were also awarded with our wine glasses as gifts.

I wish I had read the earlier reviews about this tasting room. I had a similar bad experience on October 9, 2010. We arrived after 2 pm, the small bar was full (about 10 people), so we looked at the items for sale and then had a seat at one of the side tables. 3 were occupied. The guy pouring did not acknowledge that we walked in. After a while, a couple at a nearby table left in a huff after no one served them. A woman who must have been giving a tour or something came out and finally gave us the list of wines to taste. I checked my watch: 2:27 pm. Long story short: Another group of 5-6 walked in and out after being ignored. We walked out at 3:40pm after only having 4 of the 5 wines we wanted to try. It took so long between pours that I had time to closely examine the family photos on the wall to figure out if the pourers were Gruet grandchildren, because surely that's the only reason such incompetent people are allowed to work that tasting room. I've been in hundreds of tasting rooms and the lack of hospitality at Gruet is inexplicable.
