So many old motels line Central Ave in Albuquerque. It is like going back in time. When I visited there was a lot of road construction west of I25 so stay away at rush hour.

We were in Albuquerque in April and ended up on Route 66 quite by accident going to the ABQ Bio Park. It is under heavy construction, so if you're planning to drive through during any of the high traffic times of day, be aware that...More

This is a great stretch of road within Albuquerque showing many of the old diners, gas stations and hotels. Unfortunately this is a lot of blight along the route and only certain areas are being revitalized. And the road construction is horrible along this route....More

I made a deliberate Route 66 road trip several years ago, so of course, I went through Albuquerque. But I have returned many times and still feel the excitement. Many of the older motels are gone, but some remain. The Route goes right through Central...More

It is neat to drive on the old Route 66 as the song inspires you to do from the 60's. Have driven on portions in several states and just causes you to reflect about the carefree way we used to be.

The drive from the TX/NM border across the state to the AZ/NM border is worth a gas tank or two; Lots of historical stuff to see driving either way, especially Gallup and the Zuni Pueblo! A stop at Acoma Pueblo is well worth the stop...More

Where should we start our drive on route 66? We'll be staying at the Sheraton Uptown, or we may head to route 66 after leaving the balloon fiesta. Any suggestions? Where should we stop to shop? Eat? Thanks!

There's a few cool Route 66 signs and things in old town heading into the newer part of town. See my other reviews for places to eat and stop, I can't remember then off the top of my head now, although there is a cool ice... More

Yes you can get a good map at the airport or most hotels have one too. If you do get a chance make sure you drive / hike all the way up to the top of the mountain. The scenery is stunning . Sunset a must watch. Do take a... More
