Very Accessible park for pictures of the animals!
We travel quite a bit, but have never seen animals so ready for their photo op! Didn't have to "look" for any of the animals, because they were front and center. Wonderfully clean, thoughtfully laid out, friendly staff and wonderfully diverse animals! Highly recommended.

Great Zoo. Clean the viewing windows - yikes are they filthy.
Love the Zoo and it's only getting better with all the construction they are doing to improve. The new penguin display is incredible. The layout is logical. I would like to revisit in 2 years too see it completed. When you couple this with the aquarium and botanical gardens on the same campus you could easily spend a day there. My one gripe is that every view window was so dirty you had trouble seeing the animals at times. Particularly in the penguin exhibit. They were so crusty I thought that if it was a coffee pot you might decline the coffee. Clean the windows!!!

    BioPark is wonderful
Any day outside in New Mexico is a great day. The BioPark was a nice surprise. We had visited the Albuquerque Zoo in the past but the BioPark was new to us. We spent four hours and look forward to going back again soon.

    Wide Variety of Different Animals
We took our 3 yo daughter the the ABQ BioPark Zoo in the afternoon in early June. Temps were reasonable in the lower 80s and we thought this was one of the best zoos we'd ever visited. We were impressed with the sheer variety of different animals they had at this zoo. Definitely a must-see if you have children and are visiting ABQ!

    Grateful for Gorillas
I'm so grateful for my son's summer camp experience! I just wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the counselors and staff at Zoo camp for making my son's summer unforgettable. He had the absolute best time, and I'm so thankful for all the memories he made.

I hyped up my kiddos to go see some animals and everything under construction. I would not recommend spending money to go see a bunch of construction and exhibits closed. Every time I go to the zoo it is under construction👎🏻 When I called to talk to supervisor all she had to say is I was wrong and the animals were hiding. Uh no! I saw all the signs saying exhibit closed due to construction besides the birds because of the bird flu which I could understand.

We love the Zoo typically. This round we went to the Albuquerque Zoo and my pregnant friend forgot her water bottle. She traveled across the park with 5 dollars in her pocket to be told NO to buying water IN A DISPOSABLE CUP because she was .35 cents short. Why can’t you get a cup of water on a hot day at the Zoo for under $5. It should be free. ITS A CUP OF WATER!!!! Lost a lot of hope in our Zoo today.

This zoo was great. We arrived early and were able to see all of the animals. The penguin exhibit was our favorite. It took us about 3 hrs to see the whole zoo. The food and drinks were expensive (as anticipated) but we packed our snacks and splurged on a toy for our son and a local beer. I recommend bringing a water bottle to fill as the have water fountains and a water is $6.00. There is a park in the middle of the zoo that is nice for a place to eat your snacks. Mobile ordering is available and recommended. There is quite a bit of construction going on but there is still a great deal to see. Would definitely come again.

I try to visit zoos when in the area of one I haven't been to. This one is going to be very nice once they get all of the renovations completed. The penguin area that opened recently was very cool because you get to see the penguins up close. All of the animals were out and about due to it being a pretty cool day and most of the habitats you can see the animals very easily but there are a couple you have to search for the animal.
The gift shop had lots of shirts for animals they didn't even have there anymore so I thought that was odd. The prices are about what other zoos charge; however, don't think the drink and snack prices are even close to being average. We got a supposedly fresh squeezed lemonade that tasted like river water and not fresh squeezed lemonade for $8.95 and over cooked chips were $5.95 for a bag. You could get 3 bags of Lays for that and they'd taste way better. Take your own drinks and snacks then go enjoy the zoo.

I am not really a zoo person, but thought I'd pay a visit. I think it's a great little zoo. I would describe it as very intimate zoo because I was able to get up close to so many animals. I went on a weekday afternoon when it was not crowded. My favorite was the baby chimpanzee. The reptile house was outstanding and penguin exhibit was awesome. I really enjoyed it all and I'll be back!

All the animals you want to see with very few ‘filler’ animals. We’ve visited every size of zoo and sanctuary across the US and UK for the past 30 years. We loved this small-medium size zoo. Surprising to see great apes at a zoo this size. The animals were active, given lots of enrichment toys, and appeared well cared for.

A large expansion is underway in 2022 but we really enjoyed the current size with all the most entertaining animals. Unlike huge zoos where you feel like you have to hurry along because there is ‘so much to see’ but it ends up being boring filler animals.

Tickets were bought in advance online by one of us but the line to get in was shorter for those buying tickets there. We arrived on a warm day when the zoo opened and unfortunately many of the animals were not outside. This may have been a better experience at a different time of year.

We have been to a lot of zoos and wildlife parks and seen them done well and done poorly. This is learning towards the latter. Although they seem to be doing some expansion (which I am sure will raise ticket prices and left the zoo nearly half closed off), many of the exhibits are small and things like having a snow leopard in a sunny small enclosure just don't make sense. I am not a fan of small zoos that try to expand later but keep their animals in small areas while they wait for more funds.

The website encourages you to buy tickets online, but that gets you nothing. The line for tickets is the entrance line and it/they are sloooow.

Even though it was chilly, there were many animals out for us to see. A lady was walking around giving visitors informative facts about the animals. We learned neat stuff about a brother and sister lion, the spotted hyena and 3 leopards called the 3 beans...they are each named for a different bean. We learned much more than I can write here. I was impressed that they have a blind snow leopard with mobility issues there. This zoo ranks high amongst all zoos we have visited.

We recently enjoyed two days site-seeing in Albuquerque and spent a full day at the ABQ BioPark. We visited the zoo in the morning and then the aquarium and the garden (see separate reviews) in the afternoon (since they didn’t open until 1:00pm), catching the River of Lights event that evening.

There was plentiful free parking here when we arrived for our 10:00am entrance time (we had pre-purchased tickets, but it was not necessary afterall, as there were no lines). The zoo was very uncrowded during our time there, and many animals were off-exhibit due to the cold temperatures that day (Dec. 23). We were disappointed that the animals that were indoors, like the cats, apes, and monkeys, did not have indoor viewing areas so we can see them indoors at least. The African Aviary was mostly empty of birds. Most of the animal habitats were enclosed in glass or a plexiglass material that was cloudy, dirty, or scratched, making it very hard to view the animals. We did like the reptile house here; it was not dark and cramped like most of them at zoos we have visited but bright and airy. The zoo had attractive landscaping and was easy to traverse. We found one indoor café open for lunch. All in all, we spent about two hours here before moving our car to the joint parking lot at the garden/aquarium location. As big zoo lovers, we were not highly impressed by this zoo and didn't feel like we saw many animals at all.
