We only went to this huge property to gamble. They were the only shuttle service provided from our hotel so we went back and forth three times. Like most huge casinos the pay-outs were nominal. The property is gorgeous but the slot machines were tight....More

Sandia casino used to be a fun and enjoyable place to spend a few hours. This was before they went all "mega casino" and started having to pay for all the build outs, additions and parking structures. Back then I could take $60-100 and count...More

I enjoy the social atmosphere. The rooms are nice, the restraunt on top has great views and open bar. I like to bring everyone here to have a great time. They have the football games here to on Sundays too.

Buffett has improved, deserts are one of the best at any Albuquerque Casinos. Deli food it better than most offered at any casino in the area, The DOWNS has the worst food of any Casino in Albuquerque.

This is a huge casino with plenty to do. Enjoyed the buffet with its variety of foods. Tried our luck at the slots and took a little money home. Renovations since our last visit. One disappointing thing was the selection of wine at the bar...More

We had an hour to kill before needing to be at the airport, so thought we'd lose some cash at the Sandia. Glad we did. The casino floor was pretty huge, with a great variety of machines. It was pretty smoky, but the staff is...More

Been to Sandia multiple times over the years and it still feels like a new property. Great food options, free drinks (soda, coffee) and the latest machines.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that question. I just played the slot machines, but I did do quite well on the Wheel of Fortune slot, kinda like roulette.

I don't know think so. You can't drink alcohol at the slots so I would assume it's the same at the tables.

Albuquerque sites are spread out across the city, many miles between. To walk to Old Town and the museums, zoo/bio park and many restaurants, you will need to stay in Old Town area. The Midtown and Uptown areas have many chain hotels, some have restaurants nearby but few sites. Sandia Resort is on the far north side of the city, not much else there. Good restaurant west of there is El Pinto.

Albuquerque casino food (6 Replies)
We live in Albuquerque but never go to casinos. My wife wants to take our nephew who is visiting from Spain. Not counting the fancy restaurant at the top of Sandia casino, which one has the best food? You can even toss in Holloywood casino at San Felipe.

I would say the Sandia Casino probably would have the best food, we don't eat at casinos other than in Las Vegas, lol! The Council Room or the Buffet looked decent when we walked through last visit. If it was me, take nephew to the casino, play a bit and then drive over to El Pinto for some real food!

Resorts close to Albuquerque?? Help!! Traveling 8/11 (5 Replies)
I want to combine a visit to our daughter and a vacation - want a nice, at least 4 star resort with pool, etc near ABQ. Can any Tripadvisor friends give me current updates on the Sandia Casino Resort? I am concerned that it may be too loud, smokey or Vegas for the more spa like stay I envision. We usually stay with daughter but I am ready to relax.
