Beautiful memorial to the Bataan survivors and deceased

I was visiting Albuquerque with a goal to see this memorial along with others as part of the 2018 Tour of Honor. The original Bataan memorial was dedicated in 1960 then in 2002 granite panels of names were designed to resemble marching soldiers that visitors are encouraged to walk alongside, ending up at the original Bataan memorial. There is a nice family park behind the memorial and it all is set in a very nice neighborhood. I highly recommend a visit.

Do not overlook this important moment in New Mexico's History.

The Bataan Memorial Park is a beautiful neighborhood park commemorating the lives of over 2000 of New Mexico's military who were involved in the War at Bataan. Although movies focus on other groups who suffered during the Bataan Death March, this powerful monument reminds everyone the unique connection New Mexico has to that time in history. The morning we were there, a group of Filipino families and their friends were celebrating the 70th Anniversary of their Independence-June 12, 1946. We were even invited to join them in their special picnic. Please take the time to find this simple, yet amazing monument which honors those who fought for the freedom of all.
