This area has some amazing views and colorful formations of rocks. Great to view and take photos of. Great area to drive through and just look around you. The Pertrified Forest has an incredible history and is something worth seeing yourself.
The colors on the drive thru this section of Petrified Forest are amazing. The area is vast and the vivid colors change around every corner. This reminds me so much of the Badlands National Park in SD.
We stopped at Chinde Point for views out into the Devil's Playground. The colors are vivid here and the strata of the terrain is easily visible to the naked eye. Plenty of photo ops, especially if it is sunny.

You won't need to spend much time looking, but the colors are pretty dramatic. Given the history of the entire location, we were amazed at how few "trees" there were here, but how rich the earth colors were.
You need a special permit to do this hike and they are limited to three a week. This intrigued me. It was a 2 hour hike and good exercise, but I could have done more hiking in the petrified forest and I wish I spent...More
