My boyfriend and I stopped by here on a quiet Saturday. The docent was enthusiastic and informative, telling us about the Civil War history of the bank up to some fun details about its use for film sets. Glad we stopped by!

The Farmers Bank is a 3 story 1817 Federal style brick building and is one of the oldest bank buildings in the country. It was built as the Petersburg branch of the Farmers Bank of Virginia and has been restored to 1820's era by Preservation Virginia. It is on the National Resister of Historic Places and has had many uses over the years and was unfortunately closed when we were in town. We were staying in an historic home on the alley around the corner and could see the back of the building and over the brick wall into it's attractive courtyard from our 2nd story loft.…

When entering this building I was taken aback by how authentic the whole building was, The vaults were very impressive and I learned a great deal about early American banking

We were having lunch at Andrade's and were told the visitor center was just a couple doors down. Turned out to also be the Farmers Bank. Lots of information from a knowledgeable staff, as well as getting to see the old bank. If you've never been here before, this is a good place to start.…

I was her to get tourist information, and I got a tour. It is a small place, but the tour guide gave a great tour. It is very short so you do not have to spend your entire day here.
