Well preserved 1800s home that gives you a look back into life in Petersburg during the Civil War. The estate, woodwork and history of the home is very impressive. Ask questions about the secret passageways and tunnels to the river. Obviously not what everyone lived in but is illustrative of those who had a means during a time where America... More

On a recent visit to historic Petersburg, a friend and I toured the Centre Hill Mansion (upon advice from the folks at the beautiful Blandford Church) and it was the highlight of our visit! Our tour guide Angie McLaughin was fabulous--giving us the inside scoop on the filming of "Mercy Street" and even taking photos of us inside this wonderful... More

On a drive back to Delaware from Florida, we happened to stop in Petersburg VA for the night. At the hotel, we looked to see what sites we could visit before finishing the last leg home. Listed was the Centre Hill Mansion, so we visited the Mansion on Wednesday, July 20. We had no idea the mansion was used for... More

It is open now after Mercy street wrapped up filming at end of June! Mercy Street left behind a lot of the furniture that they used in their sets. Some of the furniture in the house belongs to the house itself but the rest is from the sets. Mercy street was kind enough to leave it behind and it is... More

This mansion is currently closed while they film another series of Mercy Street which depicts a private residence used as a Union hospital during the Civil War. We went to view the Mansion from the outside but the narrow street leading to it also serves other residences in the immediate area and there were numerous No Trespassing signs next to... More

Awesome old manor house with a wonderfully dark history. Be sure to check out the escape tunnel that runs to the Appomattox in the basement. Great examples of locally made furniture for the antique enthusiast!
