Overview
More
Pecos National Historical Park commemorates thousands of years of human travel through the area. This includes hundreds of years of human habitation, such as Pecos Pueblo and the Spanish Mission Church. The Santa Fe Trail came through the park, as did the original path of Route 66. The Civil War brought the Battle of Glorieta Pass here, where Confederate ambitions for the Southwest stopped. The Forked Lightning Ranch boasted Northern New Mexico dude ranching and the home of Tex Austin, E.E. "Buddy" Fogelson, and Greer Garson. Whatever your interest in New Mexico, from archeology to modern rodeos, Pecos National Historical Park is connected!

We heard about this park from some Santa Fe locals. They said it was not Mesa Verde, but was worth a stop because of the beautiful location--which is certainly is, but so is almost all of Northwestern New Mexico. This part of the state has...More

Like many local Santa Feans, we knew a little about the area, but had no idea what it was really all about until our first visit yesterday. Quite a few of you may know that the ruins of the Pecos Pueblo are here (see other...More

I had no idea about the size nor the significance of this site. (I'll won't spoil the story before you go.) It has a beautiful visitor center filled with its fascinating sport and amazing artifacts, and a well signed 1+ mile trail through the ruins....More

Visited on crisp November morning, the visitors center has nice display and interesting ( even thought old production) movie. Park Ranger gave informative tour. It was easy hike.

Picked up the interpretation guide at the Interpretive Centre and walked the trail. Apart from being very windy and cold in early November, it was a good hike and the guide was helpful for understanding the history. In the Centre, there is a film of...More

This was a wonderful find. we live in New Mexico, and had never been here. Beautiful park, well laid out grounds and walking paths, well exhibited ruins. And, the visitors center is excellent. Really good history, nice variety of displays. Really enjoyed it a lot!!
