Fishing swimming and relaxing

We love Boca Chica. Great shells depending on time of year. Calm waters if you go all the way to the jetty. Fun with boogie boards. Fishing was fun there too.

Enjoyed the history lesson via a.m. radio on the way. Saw the Space X launch site, too. Drove down to the mouth of the river and chatted with the border patrol officer. Lots of shells, but they were all broken. Nice quiet beach, mostly people fishing.

Excellent beach and very secluded. Great for surf fishing or spending time with family bar b queing and enjoying the view. It is an idea location if you want to visit the South Texas beaches and the weekend is your only option.

We drove to this beach from Brownsville. It's free but primitive with no toilets so go before you go. We decided to go to the right after we got to the beach as I wanted to see the mouth of the Rio Grande. I was not disappointed. I found it fascinating to see where this long river starts. You can... Locals tell you that this is the place to find the best sea shells because there are not very many humans. When you come to the south end of South Padre Island, you see more land across the inlet to Laguna Madre. That is Boca Chica State Park. Beyond the park is a federal wildlife preserve which is restricted to... More

This a beach area at the end of a long road. Keep in mind it is not settled with beach houses and condos. The waves are high and the air is fresh. The trashcans are emptied periodically. The sand is not always spotless because the area is unhabited so there are no hotels to keep their area of sand spotless.... More

Never saw a State Park sign but it was very lovely at the end of the road. No facilities or rest rooms available. FYI Boarder patrol has a stop when you return. They make sure you didn't pick up anyone to bring into the USA. Felt very safe and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Boca Chica State Park is a stretch of beach along the Gulf of Mexico about 22 miles east of Brownsville Texas. There are no facilities or improvements. Many people go there to hunt for shells, fish, picnic and sit in the sun in the wintertime. I have only been there in the winter and the water is too cold for... More

driving is permissible on the beach, don't get caught by the tide. SpaceX is building a facility there, so some access may be restricted soon. Really big waves when the wind is up.

Saw a map listing for this state park and decided to check it out. It is a beach on the gulf coast and that is pretty much it. It was very uncrowded (we were there at the end of the January), but there are not bathrooms or other facilities. We were there to see birds and there were not many... More
