One of the great natural areas near Brownsville. Just minutes away from town. You can drive your car on the beach but be reasonable a truck or 4x4 would be perfect. Be aware of the tides due to the beach pathway can be non passable....More

Loved, loved this beach!!! Too bad so many careless people leave their trash behind, but we just looked for a secluded area that was a bit cleaner and we really enjoyed it. The water was clear and warm, couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing...More

Probably my favorite beach by far! Not a ton of people, shells everywhere and crystal clear water. Although there is tons of trash all over the beach it’s not full of seaweed and stink.

This is a very remote area, but a fun place to visit. It is about a 30 minute drive from central Brownsville. The beach is not as clean as South Padre Island, but it is never very crowded. It you go all the way to...More

Enjoyed seeing where the rio grande enter the sea. Beautiful shore with lots of shells. Feel like this stretch needs some friends to clear away the trash that washes ashore.

It's very pretty here as you look out on the ocean. You can drive on the beach, and we did see others picnicking and camping. It was cool to see where Rio Grande spills into the ocean...and to know Mexico is on the other side....More

I don’t think so. Because you have to go through boarder patrol on the way out of the park I doubt anyone is allowed to stay the night

Boca Chica State Park... border patrol check? (6 Replies)
We are planning a week long trip to South Padre, sometime in this trip we are going to head to Brownsville for the day and then thinking about heading to Boca Chica State Park for the beach. I understand we have to pass through a boarder patrol, I have never gone through one. Will our Texas ID's let us through, or do we need any other identification. Also what exactly happens when we go through it. I am a bit nervous, my husband thinks I am being silly. Anyone can share their experiences to...More

Boca Chica state park bathrooms ? (1 Replies)
I am considering going here with my parents. My mom is worried because she thought the last time they went that there were no bathrooms to be found there. Does anyone know whether that is the case ? Thanks.

No bathrooms, or any other amenities of any sort. When you get to the coast, you drive on the beach, north to the Brazos Santiago Pass, or south to the mouth of the Rio Grande River. No stores, no showers, no streets....just waves and sand! Come prepared. Ice chest with water and food. A shovel and a tow rope are not a bad idea either, in case you get stuck in the sand.
