This zoo was really great! We went during spring break and the weather was amazing. The animals were out and about and the exhibits were awesome. The giraffe feeding experience was by far the coolest highlight of our trip. My only complaint would be that...More

We took our father in law who needed to be in a wheel chair. We could get him everywhere and he could see almost every animal from the chair. The animals are pretty close to the viewing areas and some were active. It only took...More

Great day at the zoo. Very clean, and didn’t have that typical zoo smell. Highlight: baby kangaroo’s in their mother’s pouches! Can you say Joey!

Enjoyed this zoo. It was exciting to see the animals up close without a large barrier between you and the animals. The zoo is not too large and easy to view. Touching the sting rays was a plus. The reptile house was interesting. You have...More

I’ve been to several zoos, but never participated in a “behind the scenes” VIP tour. This one is first class. We were able to hand feed kangaroos, giraffe, giant tortoises, camels. Behind the scenes view of the dietary kitchen, rhinos, snakes, and other animals. And hands on...More

They tout this as a “no fence” zoo which it is, but it is very old and most animals look bored to death.

This is a very small zoo. There is an entrance and parking fee, but the drinks, food and merchandise is very reasonable. There were 8 giraffes of different ages. The information signs were in English and Spanish.

Liked the fact that this zoo has animals that probably are comfortable in the Brownsville weather. Most of the animals that were not native to south Texas were tropic or semitropical animals. The primates looked comfortable in their exhibits.

Zoo staff don't want potentially harmful food fed to animals. They have a special group of exhibits that must be protected from careless visitors.
