This place is dull, dingy and the staff are not the least bit friendly.
1. Went to see a show last month. Show was poorly organized. No background music, no excitement, no good food or wine.
2. Asked about upcoming events. Was told about Souper Bowl - Event for Feeding the Hungry. They increased the price of typical Empty Bowl events and take half the proceeds for themselves. Unacceptable!
3. When I asked them what they offered to get my teens excited about Art, I was told they serve no one under 18. “Having kids in here is dangerous.” was their response.
We won’t be back. Corpus has so much to offer. I’d skip this one for sure!

The Arts Center, on the day of our visit, only had two exhibits open, it was a very short visit because of that. They had the upstairs gallery closed, and were hosting a wedding on the main hall. They do have a parking lot, but it's small (25 cars?), and you can eat at the restaurant located on the main floor.

I first just went to eat at the restaurant inside but after eating, I paid my money and went through the exhibits. This was my first time but it will not be my last. Really enjoyed the food and the art exhibits!

We are all about supporting local artists, so it was really fantastic when we found this place by mistake, while eating at the Whataburger across the street. Then when we discovered online that they have 900 members, I had to see what it was all about.
Apparently, this group has been around for more than 40 years, and is now in a building that used to belong to the USO.
The Art Center features numerous galleries with a huge variety of art, and classrooms aimed at helping the local art community grow and have opportunities for collaboration- both things all artists need!
When I wanted to talk with someone who could answer some questions about the Center and how its artists became members and how other things functioned, there was no hesitation in sharing what information they had.
It seems to be a wonderful place to buy and showcase local art, allowing their local art community to thrive!! Not only will we be back, but in our own hometown, we will be patterning our offerings to our local artists in a similar way!

We stumbled upon this art center, which was very well-done with many displays of modern art as well as paintings and photography. It is free to the public with donations encouraged.

I was there for an opening featuring textile artist from around the Coastal Bend. The art center is wonderful and is constantly promoting the artists in the area. The Art Center sits right on the bay front and has a beautiful view. It is free to visit and there are many different organizations that hold workshops there. Citrus Bistro is housed there and is a delicious place to visit. The staff is always friendly. Also, Studio C, which is an artist owned gallery that sits inside the Art Center just off the bistro housed rotating artist from the area. It's a must see when visiting Corpus Christi.

Enjoy visiting the farmers market every Wednesday evening. Pretty views of the bay from the upstairs windows. Nice art gallery to visit. Cool street art on the building outside along Shoreline Blvd. Great venue for a party too! Ample parking spaces. Great place for the community to gather.

Wow! We were looking for things to do within walking distance of where we were staying, so we wandered on over to the Art Center. Absolutely fell in love with all of the local art and artists on display there. If we had more time, we may have signed up to take a class while visiting. It was very low key when we went, but still nice to roam around and take out time. Definitely going back.

I would say this is more of a place for people who live in Corpus to come see, and be a part of the community here. They have classes and exhibits that are ongoing. The are also part of a monthly arts gallery, and bring in interesting artists. For the general traveler, there are other better things to see on a shorter trip especially. And I would pass if you are such a traveler. For the community though, it's a nice little place and I would go in and see what they have to offer -- especially if you (or a family member) are a budding artist.

What happen in the case that the wedding is outside and it's raining or too cold for guest?
Written January 2, 2015
Every outdoor event is provided with a rain plan. There are other indoor spaces that can be used. Typically the decision has to be made 24 hours before the event so decorators can adjust their plan.
