I love to walk this trail. It has lots of scenery, the MGM, National Harbor and of course the bridge. I plug in my headphones and enjoy the walk. Through the journey it has a little history to read for a pit stop. They also offer bike rentals next to the Tanger Outlet. They have parking at Tanger Outlet for walkers.

If you're new to the area, or just want to get out and see something different; I would recomdn this Trail. Round trip, average 6miles (roundtrip). If you are starting from Oxon Hill, I suggest parking at the Park Police Station near the new Casino. There is a sidewalk/bike patch that will lead to the bridge.

The walk leading to the bridge is smooth with some small inclines. You walk along the road, leading to the National Harbor. Once you get to the overpass, you are presented with a lof of markers expalining the history of the area. If its very informative, and something that every person should know.

The walk long the Bridge and Potomac River is very enriching. There are benches and overlooks along the path so there is no obligation to walk the entire bridge. I found it to very relaxing.

Though you have cars passing by, you are set back enough that you don't feel in any danger (at least we didn't). The path is heavily populated and there are security blue lights available if needed.

And the great thing is, if you want to stop for a bite to eat, the Naitonal Harbor is right by.

A group of novice, near 50 year olds made this ride on a Saturday afternoon. We started on the Maryland side of the bridge. We parked at the outlets but should have parked at park and ride. The first leg of the ride is gravy, all down hill on a pathed path that both walkers and riders use. The incline getting up to the bridge was a bit of a challenge. The ride across the bridge was fine, just windy. Be careful of the wide joints on the bridge. The later part of the bridge was an easy down hill ride. We made it to the Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve. Along the way there is ample areas to rest and use the restrooms. Be sure to stay right due to some pretty swift riders passing by. We turned around and made the ride back. Once reaching the bridge to cross back into maryland it starts on a nice gradual incline. Then a nice down hill all of the way to the bottom of the road running back UP to the parking lot. This is a long and steep hill. All in all a great day and very scenic ride. Enjoy

This is a nice running trail across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and into National Harbor. I liked running across the river, and I liked that the road portion of the bridge is well partitioned from the trail. Run without fear!

This trail is an excellent path crossing the Potomac River linking Maryland and Virginia together. Walking along I-95 Southbound, you can watch boats cruise the river, traffic going in and out of the area and the goings and comings of thousands of visitors arriving by aircraft to Reagan National Airport. It is a route that there has no rest rooms so once you start, you are on your own. It is not clear on either side of the trail where allowed parking is. To get to the bridge, one will already walk almost 1/2 mile because of trying to park.

My husband and I parked at the back of Tanger Outlets. We ran the trail down pass the MGM and over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail. The trail was so well kept and scenic. There were porter potties right at the base of the trail before going over the bridge. Once we were on the Virginia side we decided to keep running down route 1 until the trail ended at the light and headed back. Once we were back on the Maryland side we followed the trail over to the National Harbor and ran along the river just to the carousel and headed back up towards to the Tanger Outlets. Will definitely do this run again just probably not as far.

Friends and I walked across the Wilson Bridge and enjoyed our walk along Interstate 95. It’s a safe trail. We began on the Maryland side and parked in the back of Tanger Outlet. We took the trail path alongside the MGM resort. One could park inside MGM as well for free. Then follow the path to the bridge. After reaching VA side, you make a left to continue the walk to the left side of the bridge, which leads underneath the bridge to clean restrooms. When you return back on the path to head back, prior to our bridge entry, we stopped for a rest at a nearby little restaurant for a break with our snacks. Then headed back. A total of nearly 8 miles. One can ride bikes and or ride scooters on the bridge. What a great, free activity!

I use the trail every morning when I ride my bike to work. I normally park in the Oxon Hill Park & Ride and ride down the hill towards the bride. I leave between 6-7 and the bride is always full of walkers. The trail is very well maintained with security lights and emergency phone stations along the trail. There is also parking at a Park Police station across from the parking structure of the MGM casino. I normally see the park police parked along the trail as well. My only complaint is that the expansion joints on the bridge are too wide and they have damaged my bike on multiple occasions. I was told DC was going to cover the expansion joints, but nothing has happened as of yet. The bridge trail connects to the Mount vernon trail where you can ride your bike south to Mount Vernon or north all the way to Rosslyn. In Rosslyn there is another trail that will take you further north. You will love the trail.

This trail is well maintained and safe. The park on the Virginia side is under the bridge with plenty of shade and restrooms in permanent structures. The landscaping and painted lane lines throughout the trail make it very easy for cyclists, walkers, and runners to each enjoy their journeys and allow the others to go at their own pace. The other walkers, runners, and cyclists on the trail were very considerate of each other.

The transparent sound barrier on the Virginia side of the bridge is also very pleasant and effective. Along the trail are viewing areas equipped with telescopes, benches, bike racks, and informative plaques about the history and wildlife in the area. The history lesson about the formation of the District of Columbia was an unexpected bonus for this well maintained, even path. The explanation about the area designated for eagles to nest is a fun piece of trivia, too.

It's a rather long walk across the bridge and there's only one way to get back to your starting point, so plan to bring some water and apply sunscreen on sunny days.

This is a must-visit for locals and a great way for tourists and conventioners at the National Harbor to access Old Town Alexandria.
