Took a tour here being that this is the largest salt water lake in the Western Hemisphere. When we got there and the guide opened the door, the stench was horrendous. Not sure where it was coming from but it was pretty nasty. There is a small souvenir shop close by with information about the lake that was pretty interesting. The lake itself is beautiful and the water was crystal clear. The scenery is beautiful but other then that there isn't much to do. I have to say our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, we were also picked up at our hotel which was a plus!

We booked a tour for 9 AM from our hotel. That morning, they called to ask if we could make it later because of ONE guest who had had a medical issue. Not possible for us. So we were picked up early and had a shortened tour for the same price. But it was just the two of us, the others were on the later tour. We did enjoy the tour, but were annoyed by the inconvenience. It seems very ad hoc. If you can go with the flow - great! But if you have deadlines and other activities planned, this may not be for you.

We felt slightly rushed when we were in Park City; however, our tour guide did well and was fairly informative. Perhaps expanding the time spent in Park City would be beneficial. We were unable to shop and fit in having lunch. More time is needed in Park City to make this tour work. The Olympic training stop was interesting as well. All in all, the drive was very beautiful.

We booked this tour hoping to spend really good time and explore the area. One hour prior to hotel pickup I finally was able to make them to pick up the phone just to find out that the tour was cancelled due to not enough people and that they were going to call me to let me know that. Then we booked different tour for later time. Again, half an hour before start they didn't want to pick up the phone and when they finally did, I heard the most insolent and rude person screaming to the phone "WE ARE CLOSED!!!" When I asked then why they didn't block the booking on the website so people wouldn't get confused that those tours are actually working when in reality they don't, he hang up on me. I have never been spoken that way EVER! Please, don't give you time and money to those people! Better way to ask your hotel representative for recommendation and, believe me, you will be satisfied with those just like we were! They need to be reported to BBB, not to show the city wonders to the tourists. I'll tell every person I know they need to avoid this company called Salt Lake City Guided tours.

I will not recommend this company. I booked and paid for this trip 5 days in advance and provided my hotel address for pickup. After 3 days not receiving the pickup confirmation email as indicated in the add I phone the company and was told that "Sue" will pick me up at between 11 to 11.15 am. On the day of the trip i received a call at 11.28 confirming my trip for 3pm. I corrected "Brett" and said my trip was booked for 11am. I was then informed that the 11am trip is cancelled and that they have space for the 3pm tour but I need to get to a specific hotel as my hotel is in the middle of nowhere. He has confirmed that I will get a 100% refund...it better be in my account by tommorrow.
Why am i angry? As a visitor to SLC how would Iknow that my hotel is not part of their pick up round as they had the address for 5 days before the trip and why cancel a company a trip only 30minutes after it was supposed to start.....I only had this day to explore SLC and due to the late cancellation notice i was not able to book any other tours...

The tour operator is unprofessional and non-responsive. The tour operator only has a cell phone (no email, landline or answering service) and is often unreachable - phone just rings or says the person is unavailable. I had to call several times to attempt to book a tour (when I did get through he kept saying he was busy and to call back in the evening). After multiple calls, I finally was able to book the tour for the one morning we would be in Salt Lake City.
I booked several weeks in advance, so we would be sure we would be able to secure a reservation for a specific date and time..
When I called to confirm he said he couldn't commit to the time I had reserved and it might be later. I told him that I needed the time we had booked or earlier because we had to travel that afternoon. He said he couldn't guarantee a time, despite the fact we had reserved it well in advance - he was busy.

I called the day before arriving in SLC and asked if there were tours available. We booked the Salt Lake City tour as well as a visit to the Great Salt lake.
After the appointed time came and wait, I noticed I had waited for 30 minutes. I called and asked when the van was coming. Well, the tour guide forgot about our appointment. Not a good start. He was apologetic and came within ten minutes to fetch me.
Brett was very knowledgeable about the city. He was very proud of his city and rightfully so; there was a lot to see and do. It is a beautiful town. However, the tour was marred by his constantly complaining about the heat. Each time, we got back in the car after visiting a monument or artifact, he lamented how hot it was. My thinking: "It's summer... in the desert... in Utah. It is supposed to be hot." He was quite tired and it was evident he didn't feel like taking a tourist around town.
The tour was supposed to be 3.5 hours which included the lake portion; at least that is what he told me on the phone. The total tour took a little more than 2 hours in actuality.
What was really funny was Salt Lake City Guided Tours took me to a gift shop. I wondered if he received some sort of remuneration for taking visitors there. I am still floored as why we stopped at one as I never asked for a drink, to go the bathroom or visit a gift shop.
It could have been a nice tour but I felt more like a burden than a tourist.

My husband and I took a tour on Salt Lake City Guided Tours and were very disappointed in the guide's knowledge. When we asked questions, we got answers that skirted around what we were asking, and the guide (Brent or Brett?) seemed to give an answer whether he really knew the answer or not. We eventually quit asking questions, as we did not feel the information was very correct, and we felt the price of the tour was very high for what the tour amounted to. I suggest comparing saltlakecityguidedtours.com and saltlakecitytours.org. Perhaps the second company is better.

Booked this tour based on reviews. Called to make a reservation, the gentleman was helpful and very accommodating regarding finding a convenient time for the tour (we were arriving in town at 10:30am and were able to book a tour for 1pm as to allow check-in and drop off of luggage). We were picked up 45 minutes after the arranged time. We both felt like the guide was more interested in getting his work day done and over with then actually showing us the sites. It felt more like sitting in a car with your friend pointing points of interests as you"re driving by. The city tour was meant to be 3hrs long. We were dropped back to our hotel after less than 2 hours. Friendly guy but overall we had to walk back to the city centre to do our own tour as to be able to learn/see any of the sites. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Stay away. Immature guide with poor storytelling skills. Lots of "this is cool" type if comments instead of deep storytelling. Driver tried to shorten 3 hour tour to less than 2 hours and didn't include the temple! Totally amateur and deceptive. Once I pointed out the tour was short and incomplete, we went to the temple. If we had arrived a few minutes earlier, we could have experienced the organ recital in the tabernacle. This should have planned into the tour schedule. Very disappointing. Find another tour company - one that is licensed and professional.
