About
Utah’s Hogle Zoo dates from 1931 and is located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Its natural terrain covers 42 acres of tree-lined pathways where visitors can view over 800 animals. In 2014 Hogle Zoo opened African Savanna – a 4+ acre exhibit featuring the giraffe, zebra, nyala and ostrich mixing and mingling on the grasslands, while African lions look on from Lions’ Hill. The popular Zoofari Express train also returned with the opening of Savanna and features a new eco-friendly engine, wider seats, and is handicapped accessible. Hogle Zoo strives to provide a safe, fun, and educational venue for visitors. Don’t miss Asian Highlands, an amazing re-creation of a Himalayan village and houses five endangered species of Asian cat, including the largest big cat, the Amur tiger. Also on your must-see list is the Elephant Encounter exhibit which features African elephants and white rhinos.

Boo at the Zoo Fun!
Oct 2021 • Family
We bought tickets online for Hogle's annual Boo at the Zoo. We anticipated that it might be busy, so we chose a Monday evening. The evening turned out to be a little chilly, with a threat of rain. I have to admit it was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a zoo, with no crowds at all! The zoo is compact, so not too much walking for the littles. The lights were great, the Harry Potter Maze was fun, and the Hot Chocolate was perfect for the cool weather. The only dissapointment was that we saw very few animals along the way! Our multigenerational family enjoyed our time at Hogle's Boo at the Zoo!

If you need to pass the time...

Mediocre zoo, smaller than average with all the normal features. Nothing notable. The reptile exhibit should be maintained a little better, very dirty cages for the animals and smelled horrific. Also - bombarded with school field trips. Very difficult to walk around and engage with my family due to the multiple field trips of children.

Nice destination to visit for an hour or so

Nice zoo with some cool animals. There were quite a few areas closed or no animals exhibiting. The animals that were there, however, are very cool.

Great Zoo...just the right size
Aug 2021 • Couples
This is a wonderful, clean zoo. The animals are so close. Much closer than in larger zoos I have visited. I especially enjoyed the elephant training today. I am 60 and the walk around the zoo took two hours and the path is very level. I thought the entry fee was very reasonable too.

Zoo time
Aug 2021 • Couples
We’ve literally been to hundreds of zoos some worse some better. This one was in between the fingerprints and the filth on every window at 2 PM in the afternoon on the day that we visited is horrible especially due to the fact that Covid could be spreading. Anyhow most of the stalls were OK some of them were not cleaned. It was probably too warm for a lot of the animals to be out. The woman in the giraffe zone deliberately fed the giraffe and made the giraffe go back out Two it’s Pen knowing darn well I was taking a photo. The two women attending the giraffe zone appeared to not give a darn about people wanting to ask questions and view the giraffes

A great zoo!
Jun 2021
I love this zoo! Not only does it have a lot of unusual and familiar animals, but the has a great water park for the kids on a hot day, a little train, and a carousel. I visited with my 7 year old grandson and we stayed for hours! He had a blast in the water - we should have brought his swim trunks! It was a blistering hot day, so we were both happy to get wet. The little train is fun, going around the grounds, and the carousel has many different animals to ride. He also got to feed the giraffe! This was a really fun experience, the giraffe putting out it's long tongue to take the food. The snack bar had good food, too, with cute plastic drink cups that we brought home for souvenirs.

I'm sorry I don't have many pictures. Most were of my grandson and we have a family policy that we don't publish photos of him.

Larger than it appears from outside
Jul 2021
The Zoo has a circular design with small walking paths off the main trail.
Many mature trees help keep the area cool and refreshing.
We almost missed the 'reptile house' and it probably has more animals than any other space. With information and clever signage.
I think the kids would have stayed for hours just watching the sea lions, seals and polar bear
Some of the ice cream and snacks are not available until 11 a.m.

A Fine Medium-Sized Zoo
Jul 2021
On a comfortable July Monday,I spent an enjoyable day at this very hilly zoo facing magnificent Wasatch Mountains.I especially liked their African Savannah featuring charming Giraffes and Zebras, their Great Apes featuring energetic Orang-Gutans and Gorillas, and their pool with rapidly moving California Sea Lions and Harbor Seals. Other animals that I enjoyed were its Turkemian Markhors,,Rhinos, and River Otters The staff at this zoo was very helpful and enthusiastic about their work. This is a medium-sized zoo ,so the five hours that I spent there was sufficient.

Pick a Price
May 2021
In general we loved this zoo. We saw many creatures and took 100s of photos. The hills in the park are a little tough on the ones who are not young. The prices listed on their website did not match the prices we were charged at the park. Not even close.

Great place to visit
Apr 2021
Great place to view the animals. Animals are well taken care of and are fun to watch. Food prices are reasonably priced but they do allow for your own food to be brought in. Great play area for kids when the weather is warmer.
