Once the site of Utah Territorial Prison, this park is a lot more pleasant today, with a gently rolling landscape great for running.

Recently we spent the evening here for a get-together and enjoyed the spacious and open areas. Convenient parking. When there is a lot of traffic there is a bit of a wait to get out of the park.

1.6 mile loop with two descent grade hills makes Sugarhouse Park ideal for a workout on bike or running, or walking - asphalt or grass your choice. For a longer loop goes around the outside of the park - all grass. Pavilions offer family gatherings...More

This park was once an old prison site. You would not know it now at all. I was a young boy and still remember the remnants of some of the old prison walls now gone. I learned how to throw and catch a ball better...More

Riding or running around the paved loop is great as the open fields are great for play or relaxation. When it snows, the sledding is good as well.

Sugarhouse is a nice park and fun when it snows. They have a hill you can tube or sled down. Great, safe walking park. Very nice.

This is a large park that invites you to go in. People exercise there; bring their dogs; and can go sledding in the winter.

I am not certain. There are several outdoor sporting stores close to the park - the largest being REI - that would be the place I would call. If not REI - they should be able to refer you to a local business that will rent... More

There are reserveable picnic areas where grills are allowed. I'm not sure about grilling elsewhere.

Sugarhouse Fireworks on 4th July (3 Replies)
Hi there! My party of 5 will be arriving Salt Lake City on 4th July. We are thinking to head down to Sugarhouse park to enjoy the festival and fireworks after we check in our hotel near downtown. Is the park easily accessible? Can we travel without a car? Are taxis easily avaliable? Thank you for some advice!

It would be fun to check out the festivities at Sugarhouse Park. The last time I was there, the Utah Symphony performed a concert. You could probably get a taxi there, but the problem would be returning downtown after the show unless you had it prearranged and then you'll be paying to sit in traffic. Sugarhouse Park is about 4 miles from downtown and I doubt public transportation will be running. A car is probably necessary, and you may need to park a couple of blocks away, depending on what...More
