When I read reviews of this tour before booking I thought that the people must be exaggerating. But after doing the Mighty Five Camping Trip I can confirm that it was truly one of the greatest experiences I've done.
Our guides, Tyler and Chad, were incredibly knowledgeable, considerate and dedicated. They brought us on an adventure of the parks that I would have never been able to curate myself. The amount we saw in five days was mind-blowing and their guidance elevated the experience to more than I could have ever imagined.
From the hikes to the food, the equipment to the stories, every detail surpassed my expectations. Both guides worked so well together and were the perfect pairing in creating this magical week. They gracefully tailored and adapted the hikes, activities, and menu to work for everyone in the group—building a level of service that would impress me in a hotel, never mind while camping in the wilderness.
I cannot wait to book more MountainBased experiences! Especially if Tyler and Chad are the guides.

We had an incredible time doing the Utah Mighty 5 camping trip! The diversity in the daily hikes and the scenery were amazing, and the camping was not only set in great grounds, but for an inexperienced camper it was made easy by the guides instructions. The food, given we were out camping, was also delicious and excellently prepared everyday. Our guides, Tyler and Chad, were extremely nice, professional, and organized, providing excellent information and guidance throughout. They ensured everyone had the best time possible and were a huge part of why this trip was one of the best I've ever gone on. I wouldn't hesitate to book with mountainbased again for future trips , especially if Tyler/Chad are guiding them.

I did the mighty 5 mountained based trip last week and it was simply spectacular. I cannot say enough positives about our guides Tyler and Chad who were extremely informative, attentive and somehow keep seriously positive energy through the whole trip. Even the food was restaurant quality which is mind boggling on a few gas stoves after 13-14 hour days.
The parks and hikes chosen were always manageable for the group but also let the more active trip members push a bit more to their limit which was welcomed. Really looking forward to doing another mountain based trip down the line and will be pushing hard to get the dream team of guides back on it, ideally in Alaska😅
Cannot recommend this company and in particular these guides enough!

I cannot say enough about what an incredible experience I had! It is good that I am limited to 100 characters. The best thing to say is that my first solo camping endeavor has me hooked on many more with this company. I did the Mighty Five camping trip - even though I had not been camping in over 25 years. My guides, Tyler and Chad were amazing- informative, got us to the parks in an efficient manner (something I never would have pulled off on my own), served us great food. I honestly can't say anything negative!
If anyone is worried about "fitness" for these trips, as the oldest person on the trip. I will say I work to stay active, but I observed their subtle assessment of the ability of us all to participate in the activities they had planned. They were very, very professional and competent.
Thank you Chad and Tyler for your role in making this a wonderful lifetime experience, and thank you James for you responsiveness to all my pre trip question. Will be booking my next trip soon.

Completed a trip with Mountain Based last week. Our guide Tyler was absolutely incredible. I find it rare these days when you meet someone who truly enjoys what they do. Tyler is that person. He puts an extreme amount of detail in every aspect of what he does. He was very personable as well and was very fun to joke with. I couldn't ask for a better guide. The accommodations were great and the traveling van was nice and clean. If you are looking for a company to travel with, stop looking. YOU HAVE FOUND IT! ASK FOR TYLER!

We took the 3 Day Tour of Canyonlands, Arches and Goblin Valley. What an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Hannah, was just amazing!
She was super friendly, very knowledgeable, and met every criteria imaginable you would want from a tour guide.
MountainBased, as a company, was extremely easy to work with and very accommodating. The 3-day tour my wife and I took was perfect for us, covering a wide range of experiences in a fairly short time period. I would highly recommend MountainBased to anyone looking for an informative, fun and breathtaking experience.
If you are lucky enough to get Hannah as a tour guide, even better! 5 STARS PLUS!

My husband and I just completed our first trip with MountainBased to the Utah Mighty Five and had an amazing experience! The national parks were incredibly beautiful and unlike anything we have ever seen. The visits to the two state parks were additive. We especially enjoyed Goblin Valley—what a whimsical landscape.
Our guides Meg and Tyler were adept at making changes on the fly to ensure our experience was the best that it could be. Plus they were also personable and fun! This was our first excursion with a group and we enjoyed the others on the trip with us. The van was comfortable and with the enormous windows, the views as we drove were simply breath taking.
Highlights include: Red Cliffs Inn, the hike to Delicate Arch, the Bryce Canyon hike, the storm at Capital Reef, the sunrise crossing Boulder mountain and the hikes in Zion.
We look forward to our next trip with MountainBased.

We had so much fun finding wildlife in the national parks. We saw all of the animals that we hoped to see. The hikes and views were phenomenal, they met all of my expectations. The food everyday was amazing! Our guide, Chad, is quite the cook & every meal he prepared was delicious as well as a beautiful spread. I would recommend this trip to anyone & I can’t wait to come back for my next trip!

My husband and I , with three friends ,recently went on 9/4/23-9/10/23 on a mountain based tour. We did the Utah 5/5 day Lodging trip and had a trip of a life time. It was very well run and organized. Our tour guides Eric and Tyler Davis were amazing. They were very informant and professional however also personal and approachable. They were very perceptive to the individual needs of the group. It is definitely a great way to see the National parks ,which were amazing and breath taking.Everything was arranged including transportation , park entrance fees, most meals ( when not included great recommendations were given), and lodging. The drive times were broken up with breaks and the hikes were very doable for all. We would highly recommend this trip.

Can someone give me some info on the Mighty 5 camping part if the trip ? Are the tents set up in campsites? Flushing restrooms, clean showers?
It sounds really good, but dont want to give up too much comfort .LOL
Camping trip vs. Lodging trip - same itinerary? So on the fence with what to book and with what company. Thank you for more information. I greatly appreciate your time.

We took the Mighty Five camping trip and it was FANTASTIC! We're a little "beyond" middle aged (mid-50's) and traveled with our friends who are almost in their 50's. None of us are "hard core" campers but all have done our fair share back in our glory days. The guides at Mountain Based are so awesome setting up our tents was really no big deal, camping mats were top-notch and comfy, sleeping bags were snuggly, all that being said, if you are looking for a trip where you are being catered to (which we STILL were - don't get me wrong) and you are doing no work in terms of your set up and break down of camp, then you would probably want to consider the lodging tour. This trip you are fully participating in setting up and breaking down your camp as well as grabbing gear and helping load it back into the trailer each day. We all felt it added to the adventure of our trip but if that doesn't sound appealing then this wouldn't be the trip for you! Haven't ever been on one of their lodging trips but can only imagine the quality continues to be top-notch as the guides and the logistics make up 95% of the trip! You won't be disappointed if you go with Mountain Based we're trying to decide on which trip we want to take next with them!! They're fantastic!!

Any showers or restroom accommodations while camping ?

We did have access to showers at two different stops. Both were very nice facilities. Restroom facilities were close to campsites (short walk away) and were "rustic" at the more remote campsites - but we were camping and expected this. None of this deterred from our awesome trip on the Mighty Five Tour!;)

How do you handle groups of mixed fitness/agility?
Pam V

Our group ranged in age from teens to retired couples. The guides were exceptional at handling the few occasions where some wanted to hike on and others were ready to rest. For instance, on one day some of the group elected to relax and read by a river near the park visitor center while others hiked a moderately difficult trail. Still others in the group started out on the trail and when they decided they were not up for the full challenge, the guides separated and those who wanted to take a less challenging tail split off with one guide. I feel confident in speaking for every member of my group when I say that we all left each park completely thrilled, satisfied, sufficiently catered to by our guides, and feeling that we had just experienced the best hiking day ever!!!

Hi! I am impressed by the wonderful reviews of this tour. It seems most people went with the camping option. Has anyone done the Mighty 5 with lodging? Wondering how the accommodations were. Thanks!

No, I did the camping option but it was great. The company is a family business operated by three brothers and they are the third generation of their family to operate the company. I would go with them again.
