I can not recommend Mountainbase (MB) enough to anyone wanting to travel to Utah and see the national parks. I did the All Mighty 5 Camping tour and it was an amazing experience. I have never camped before and being a city girl I wasn’t sure what to expect but our tour guides Eric and Megan were GREAT!! They were so accommodating and made sure to show us how to set up the tents (super easy) while they would prepare lovely dinners for us (ask Eric for his lentil soup/stew recipe! its DELISH). As there was one spot left I did this trip solo but never felt alone:) The group was diverse and made for a lot of wonderful relationships and memories. Lunches and dinners by the campfire were a unique experience and created a bond among us. The hikes picked for the parks were doable and I definitely reached my 10k steps a day :). My favorite was the narrows hike in Zion as there is nothing like it. I am definitely going to sign up for other MB tours! I would recommend if you want a perfectly planned trip. MB took the stress out of planning for a first time visitor and so happy I did it. One last shout out to Nick who prior to me coming onto the trip answered my calls and emails regarding itinerary, what to pack etc. The entire team at MB are all wonderful!

We just came back from the Mighty 5 lodging trip. It was amazing. Our guide Eric did a fantastic job making sure everyone was both comfortable yet challenged with the hikes. The parks are majestic. The hikes are each different but spectacular in their own way. Eric made the rides enjoyable with his conversation, soundtrack, and frequent comfort stops. His skill and knowledge were unrivaled. Don't hesitate to book with Mountain Based.

One of the best weeks of my life. Flew out solo from NY for the 5 day Bryce and Zion camping trip this September. I was looking forward to it, but the actual experience surpassed my expectations by miles...such an awesome group of people. When you get dropped off at the hotel with 9 other strangers, exchanging contact info, and totally bummed to be back...you know something went very right. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the week...except I wished it was longer. MountainBased knows exactly how to execute a trip from their local knowledge of the parks, great itineraries, individual consideration to campers, awesome meals, and fresh coffee every morning. Our guides were Megan and Justin Chan and honestly, it felt like hanging out with good friends for a week. They're both great guides and better humans. Positive vibes all around the whole time. They had the entire trip planned perfectly, with some really fun surprises along the way. If you're considering a trip with MountainBased, I'd say stop thinking and just book it. Will definitely be back next year for another trip.

These guys are awesome. We did the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons camping trip. Our family of 6 ages 19-49 had a fantastic time.
I’ve wanted to see the Western National Parks my whole life, but the idea of planning a trip like that was overwhelming. This is millions of acres of wilderness. Where are good places to stay, trails to take, and exactly how much is enough for one day?
There were zero decisions to make, and every day of the tour just got better and better. As the mom, I loved not having to plan beyond flights. I also loved that they bring all the gear and food and do all the cooking. The gear was top notch and food was great.
I was nervous about the temps being in the 30’s at night, but the tent, sleeping bags and insulated sleeping pads kept us warm, no problem.
I know they may not always camp in the same spots, but the campground we stayed at the fist two nights had the most gorgeous view of a lake and mountains. We literally camped right next to the lake. So restful after a day of hiking.
The vans were nice. They have all the stops well planned so 5 hrs didn’t even seem like forever deicing from Salt Lake City to Montana and back on the 1st and last day.
Somehow we stayed on schedule while feeling fairly chill and getting a lot of adventure in each day.
The suggested packing list was very helpful for us Midwesterners with no mountain hiking experience. We got almost everything on it, and it did come in handy!! Break in those new hiking boots like the list suggests, folks…you’ll be glad you did!
The two restaurants we ate at were wonderful. Reservations were timed well and service and food were great. And of course included in the cost (minus alcohol, naturally).
The guides (Justin, Tyler and Megan) had great attitudes, were knowledgeable, friendly, kind and professional but personable. They handled the logistics, personalities, curveballs, and chores like champs. They are a wonderful team who obviously work well together and take care of each other and their clients.
I highly recommend this company and this trip.

Our group of 8 “older” women had a fabulous hiking/camping trip in S. Utah. Because the 2nd guide was not COVID vaccinated (as we had expected/confirmed) Eric led the group on his own for our 5-day trip. He handled EVERYTHING with great skill, efficiency and good humor. Mountainbased provides excellent equipment and great food. Eric modified schedules and hikes to meet our needs/weather/crowds and trail closures. He also included a few surprises so we were able to experience all the adventures we hoped for and more!

We have just returned from a week long trip to Zion / Bryce National Parks organized by Mountainbased. This was an extremely enjoyable camping and hiking experience for an entire week.
Our family of 4 was joined by 6 others and together we had a fantastic experience.
Our trip guides, Eric and Justin, were professional, caring and very knowledgeable on all aspects of the camping trip and the national parks that we visited. Traveling with them helped maximize our overall experience. We visited Zion national park and did not have to fight the infamous crowds and did the two iconic hikes of Angel's Landing and the Narrows. At Bryce Canyon we did the Fairyland Loop hike that was awesome. The guides were amazingly knowledgeable about the geology, the foliage and everything we encountered in the national park.
We camped for four nights, at excellent camp grounds, and all of the equipment was provided by the company, all in good shape. Our guides are excellent chefs and prepared hearty and healthy meals every day. That was definitely a wonderful (and unexpected) surprise.
Eric and Justin facilitated group activities and during the trip week it felt like that we were one big family.
Mountainbased is a family owned company that is very easy to deal with.
This is a highly recommended trip. You have to be an outdoor enthusiast and like camping and hiking to enjoy this trip.
Our future travels will absolutely include trips offered by Mountainbased.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary similar to the way we started our marriage exploring Utah and Wyoming. We did 2 trips with MountainBased back-to-back with the weekend in between in Salt Lake City. Our 1st week was hiking the Mighty 5 with our incredible guides Megan and Eric. They both were so passionate about their jobs and the area. We had a wonderful group including 4 sisters in their 70's! The guides were well versed and were able to customize each participant's experience as needed. The guides took care to ensure we optimized the hikes with minimal crowds and weather conditions. We got to experience 'the best of' each park and have incredible photographs as memories of the trip both scenic and of great folks we met in our group. The accommodations were really good - especially Red Cliff Lodge.
The 2nd week with MountainBased was Yellowstone Wildlife Adventure. We had a different guide team including Tyler, Chad and Kieron that know this area exceptionally well. Kieron lives in the Grand Teton area. This team was laser focused on locating wildlife for us. This team would pull over at any given time if they spotted an interesting find! We spotted red tail hawks, pronghorn, bison, a couple of wolves, and a elusive peek at a huge bull moose grazing by a meadow on our last day - such a treat! They put their resources and connections to work to optimize our possibilities to capture nature's wildlife at its best. We also experienced the best of Yellowstone's various highlights taking advantage of early mornings to minimize crowds and capture wonderful memories. The accommodations were good as well. Spending time in Jackson was a nice way to end our last evening with lots of options of restaurants, legacy bars and boutiques. 1 of our favorite shops is still there!
We loved both tours and we highly recommend this company to experience this part of our amazing country!

I’m a solo female traveller in my late 30s and I did the signature Yellowstone and Grand Tetons camping trip with MountainBased. I’ve done a couple of similar types of camping trips with TrekAmerica but I would recommend MountainBased above anyone else for seeing the US national parks.
It was a fantastic trip. I wanted a stress-free trip to get some exercise, meet some interesting people, and see some amazing sights and that’s exactly what I got.
The advantages of going with MountainBased are that they think of everything, leaving you to relax and enjoy it. The communication before the trip was excellent, I knew exactly where to go, what to bring and what to expect each day. During the trip they provided all the camping and sleeping equipment (and it was nice and clean!), drove us to each place, guided our hikes, kept us safe (I was quite worried about bears but they taught us all the precautions and reassured us while also taking bear safety seriously), found the best toilets and showers and lunch stops, stopped for wildlife viewing and great photo opportunities, cooked for us, loaded all our stuff in the van, had bear spray and sunscreen and bug spray if we needed it, taught us about the area, the history, geology, geography, really everything you could ask for.
The vans are comfy, the food is healthy and tasty, the tents and equipment is clean and in good condition, and the campsites have good facilities.
The guides really are excellent - we had Tyler D and Kayla but I know from previous trips that Justin and Tyler B are also excellent and I have no doubt that any MountainBased guide would be high quality, professional, knowledgeable and caring. You could tell that our guides really genuinely cared that we all had a great time and knew and cared a lot about the places we visited. They are interesting people and were so enthusiastic and fun but also professional and respectful. We had 7 people in our group from 5 different countries and they took time to chat to each member of the group and made sure no-one was ever left out and that everyone could go at their own pace when hiking.
As a woman travelling alone I felt extremely safe and I trusted them to ensure my safety, personal safety, when driving and around wildlife.
I would recommend travelling with MountainBased and can’t wait to go again!

Absolutely outstanding trip with MountainBased to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons! We could not have dreamed a better experience for our last hoorah before our oldest son heads to college. Guides, Chad and Nick, were just awesome! Managed group expectations (and various personalities) kept us on-schedule and away from peak crowd times, did NOT over guide (which we witnessed as we passed other tour groups; our teen boys like their independence), and kept us well fed and nourished for long hikes. MountainBased receives 5*'s ratings consistently and for good reason. We'll definitely be booking another trip next year, loved our adventure!

This was a fantastic experience. We HIGHLY recommend traveling with Mountainbased. Our guides Jared & Tyler were fantastic and this whole organization is super professional and super attentive to their clients. Bryce and Zion are awe-inspiring places to visit and the Mountainbased team does a wonderful job of making sure their clients see the best of the parks and still have a perfect balance of hiking and down time. We will definitely travel with Mountainbased again. Already planning our next trip!

Can someone give me some info on the Mighty 5 camping part if the trip ? Are the tents set up in campsites? Flushing restrooms, clean showers?
It sounds really good, but dont want to give up too much comfort .LOL
Camping trip vs. Lodging trip - same itinerary? So on the fence with what to book and with what company. Thank you for more information. I greatly appreciate your time.

We took the Mighty Five camping trip and it was FANTASTIC! We're a little "beyond" middle aged (mid-50's) and traveled with our friends who are almost in their 50's. None of us are "hard core" campers but all have done our fair share back in our glory days. The guides at Mountain Based are so awesome setting up our tents was really no big deal, camping mats were top-notch and comfy, sleeping bags were snuggly, all that being said, if you are looking for a trip where you are being catered to (which we STILL were - don't get me wrong) and you are doing no work in terms of your set up and break down of camp, then you would probably want to consider the lodging tour. This trip you are fully participating in setting up and breaking down your camp as well as grabbing gear and helping load it back into the trailer each day. We all felt it added to the adventure of our trip but if that doesn't sound appealing then this wouldn't be the trip for you! Haven't ever been on one of their lodging trips but can only imagine the quality continues to be top-notch as the guides and the logistics make up 95% of the trip! You won't be disappointed if you go with Mountain Based we're trying to decide on which trip we want to take next with them!! They're fantastic!!

Any showers or restroom accommodations while camping ?
Written June 6, 2022
We did have access to showers at two different stops. Both were very nice facilities. Restroom facilities were close to campsites (short walk away) and were "rustic" at the more remote campsites - but we were camping and expected this. None of this deterred from our awesome trip on the Mighty Five Tour!;)
Written January 30, 2023
Our group ranged in age from teens to retired couples. The guides were exceptional at handling the few occasions where some wanted to hike on and others were ready to rest. For instance, on one day some of the group elected to relax and read by a river near the park visitor center while others hiked a moderately difficult trail. Still others in the group started out on the trail and when they decided they were not up for the full challenge, the guides separated and those who wanted to take a less challenging tail split off with one guide. I feel confident in speaking for every member of my group when I say that we all left each park completely thrilled, satisfied, sufficiently catered to by our guides, and feeling that we had just experienced the best hiking day ever!!!

Hi! I am impressed by the wonderful reviews of this tour. It seems most people went with the camping option. Has anyone done the Mighty 5 with lodging? Wondering how the accommodations were. Thanks!
Written October 3, 2018
No, I did the camping option but it was great. The company is a family business operated by three brothers and they are the third generation of their family to operate the company. I would go with them again.
